JOHN FREDERICK BROOKS
1947 – 2022

On January 5, 2022, John left this world too soon and is now in the loving care of the Lord Jesus Christ; where there will be no more death or mourning, crying or pain.
John was born June 19, 1947, in Auchendinny, Scotland and came to Canada as a young child. He described himself as a "military brat".
He was a compassionate, loving man who loved his family first; his second love was his nursing career. He so enjoyed being a nurse, meeting and working with so many people until his retirement from the Grace Hospital in 2012.
John is survived by his loving wife Michele. They were married for 50 wonderful years and were best friends. He's also survived by his children, Kara and Kyle.
"Dad - Thank you for your humour, kindness, and friendship. Thank you for your support in times of our need. We are proud of you." - Kyle
"Dad - You were the most loving father a family could ever ask for. Your guidance was the foundation of the family." - Kara
We mourn the loss of our husband and father and encourage any and all who knew him to remember the beauty that he brought into the world.
"John, you were the love of my life and I will miss you so much until we are together again." - Michele
"Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before, I know I'll often stop and think about them. In my life I love you more." - The Beatles
The family wish to thank the Palliative Care and Home Care staff. Also, much gratitude to the wonderful staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre - A very special thank you to Nurse Maureen, and also to Dr. Hurst.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering in the springtime at the Burnside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie. This was John's wish.
Donations in John's memory may be made to the no-kill animal shelter at Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3K 0Y1, or to the CNIB Guide Dog Foundation by calling 1-800-563-2642.
Love forever, Michele, Kyle and Kara.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ
- Galations 6:2

  • You are so right when you say John’s first love was his family. Your dad was so proud of both of you. He was a man who marched to his own drum, good for him. - Posted by: Debra Oneale (Former coworker) on: Jan 17, 2022
