  • Dear Susan and family, we were sooo saddened to learn the news about John’s passing. We hold many “credit Union days ” memories of fun and laughter close to our hearts. The celebrations/parties with the entire group was so special but the most cherished memories will be the wonderful evenings of food, wine and friendship. John was such an amazing cook, which we were not, and you guys would either host the dinner or bring the meal to our place, John still doing all the cooking. So many great times together in those early years of our marriages. I loved hearing John speak with such devotion, care and the want of a great teacher to see success for the students and athletes he would teach or coach. I strongly believe teaching is a calling not just a job, John answered that calling. I can’t begin to imagine your journey of late and the difficulty of it. Our hearts are with you and your family! Lots of love, Aynsley and Dale - Posted by: Aynsley Ward (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2022

  • May I offer my sincere condolences to Susan and family. I have many memories of working with and socializing with John. He was a big part of the Shaughnessy Park family. Students from many schools will remember him for his years of coaching track. Sincerely, Val Isfeld - Posted by: Val Isfeld (Shaughnessy Park co-worker) on: Jan 17, 2022

  • Dear Susan, My love and condolences go to you. John and I shared many happy memories/sessions at David Livingston School. We did a unit (his decision) on fitness, nutrition and wellbeing. He made our small group of 12 run around the lower gym at DL each morning (and recorded all of our results). His comment to me was, "Barb, you don't run like a runner, you run like a dancer!" • We are very saddened to hear of John's passing. I recall John's big presence at Shaughnessy Park School when I taught there many years ago. He had a great sense of humour and hung out with great group of fellow teachers. There was a special bond with those guys. Dan recalls playing many fun games of floor hockey with Dan's older brother, Gary, and John. Our condolences to Susan and family. - Posted by: June and Dan McGibney (Shaughnessy Park friends) on: Jan 15, 2022
