On January 11, 2022, our Mom, Eva Hill, peacefully passed away at 98 years. She is leaving behind a very large family. On the day she passed, our Mom recited all of our names one more time; Bill (Cindy), Barbara (Gerry), Doug (Keri), Dennis (Janet), Russell (Sylvia), Ron, Glen (Mercy) and Dolores (Craig). If we add the 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, as Mom would say, they all belong to me!
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack; daughter Barbara; great-granddaughter Hannah; daughter-in-law Sylvia; brothers, Russell and Clarence; her sister Margaret and her parents, Alma and Bill Sanderson.
When our Mom and Dad started their journey in 1945, Charleswood was on the edge of Winnipeg and was considered as "out in the country". The roads were mud (Manitoba gumbo), we hauled water by horse and buggy, cooked on a wood stove, had a few hogs, a couple of chickens and a cow named Daisy. Not to forget, was the outhouse around the corner and behind the garage. When the eight children started to come along, life was more than busy! It seemed that my Mom's clothesline was a mile long. Considering all that, Mom somehow made time to enjoy the things she loved to do. Square dancing, baseball, bowling, bingo and playing cards; yes, we kids were always included (even if we didn't want to go!).
Our Mom was a lifetime member of the Charleswood Legion and served with the Legion's Ladies Auxiliary for 70 years. When we were small kids, she even spent some of her time working for Verna and Len Van Roon on their chicken ranch. Lots happened over the years, the good things and bad that come along to every parent. School and all the activities that we kids were involved with, my Mom was part of. She was ahead of her time as she knew what multi-tasking was before the word was invented.
We thank her for all the opportunities she made for us, we loved her, and we will miss her dearly.
Thank you kindly to the Team of wonderful folks at West Park Manor.
Due to current restrictions, Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

Such sad news, but what a long life she had! I was thinking of her about two weeks ago. That smile! Just to see it made you smile. She had such a great sense of humour. I got to know Eva when we bowled together with the Charleswood Legion Bowling League for many years. My husband, Karr and Eva always got the annual trophies for top bowlers. She gave him some competition. She will be missed, but what great memories she gave us. I will always be thankful for her taking the time to attend my sisters memorial service. How wonderful it was to look up and see her looking at me with her big smile. My condolences to her family. What a treasure she was. - Posted by: Karr & Penny Gayadat (Joel) (Friend ) on: Jan 16, 2022
Eva was a long time friend of our family. My Mom Gerry Caul and her were friends for 65 years. She always came to our family events, and i considered her an aunt. I loved her stories and she always had a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed by The Caul Family. Rest in Peace beautiful woman. Karen Caul - Posted by: Karen Caul (Friend) on: Jan 15, 2022
Condolences to the Hill family from the O’Dell family. Your Mom was a great lady and we were always treated like one of the family when we were at your place. Punishment or praise doled out as it was deserved, no favouritism. Although I had not seen your Mom for a long time, I had often thought of her. - Posted by: Larry O’Dell (One of the kids ) on: Jan 15, 2022
Condolences to the family your mother was a wonderful lady one of a kind a real pleasure to have known her. I remember when she used to work at the corner store and I would take my daughter there she always gave her a sucker as we were leaving. And when we were children she used to refer to us as the brats next door which we were especially all my six brothers. Love from the Allison Family. Heaven has another Angel.
