CARMEL MARIE LAPLANTE-CROSS

Peacefully on January 12, 2022 at the age of 94, Carmel passed away. She was predeceased by her first husband Alphonse, her parents and siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Gordon, children, Claudette, Denis (Beverly) and Sylvia (Paul); her grandchildren, Jonathan (Meaghan) and Shaundra and great-grandchildren, Paige, Parker and "the adopted one" Arlene and stepchildren, Keith and Sherry. Also left to mourn are her many relatives and special friends.
Carmel had a true love of life. She enjoyed entertaining, golfing, playing cards, cribbage, dancing and travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. Her true love, however, was her family cottage at Falcon Lake where many special memories were made. She was most noted for her baking of bread, cinnamon buns, pate and tourtiere. She always had a place at the table for you to enjoy her special cooking and laughter. In the early years, Carmel worked at Canada Packers and in her later years, was employed by St. Boniface General Hospital.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Seven Oaks General Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Abbott, for the wonderful care given to our wife and mother.
Due to COVID restrictions, a gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.

We will miss you. Rest in peace Mom.

  • I am so sorry to have found out only recently that you passed. Me and my children will truly miss you. I will cherish all the amazing Christmases we spent together where you fed me lots of food and always made my favourites. I may not be your biological granddaughter but my love for you was of that as a granddaughter has for her grandmother. I will miss you always. I also wish condolences to all of the family. Send our love Destiny, Edelle, Trinity and Gordon. I promise to share many stories of our amazing memories together with them so they will always know how amazing of a woman you are.
