  • Joanne and family. I am sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I was a troopmate of Steve's (July '68 - Feb '69) and hadn't seen Steve since we all shook hands ands went our separate ways from Regina. I note one of the messages referred to Steve as "sleepy" - that brought back memories. He was a good man to be around and I know you will have great memories and stories to tell of him in your lives. • I had the privilege of working for Steve in "D" Div. HQ for many years. He was a kind and patient man. He had faith in us and all our differing abilities. His willingness to let us run with our ideas without needing to micro-manage was what I admired most. Yet he was always there to lead when needed. He was well respected by all those who he dealt with. My deepest condolences to Jody, Mark, Jonathan, Bethany and all his family in their time of loss. • Norma and I extend our sincere condolences to Jody and family - Steve and I worked together on Winnipeg Drug Section and became great friends, as did all his co workers. We have fond memories of Steve joining us at the cottage at Pelican Lake and on several camping trips. One camping trip in particular brings a smile to my face. Steve forgot to set up his tent so 1:00 or 2:00am he crawled in our small tourist tent with Norma and I and our sons Jamie and Ryan and slept across the doorway. Everyone got up in the morning climbed over Steve to get in and out of the tent. Rest in Peace Sleepy. - Posted by: Wally& Norma MacLeod (close friend and coworker) on: Jan 16, 2022

  • My sincere condolences to Steve’s family. Worked with Steve and will always remember during an awards ceremony, where Prince Edward was in attendance, and Steve was doing security, Steve made sure I could talk to Prince Edward and actually used my phone to take our picture. After, I found out that the Prince’s own detail were the only one’s who were to direct who Prince Edward was to talk to. I will always feel very thankful to Steve for that opportunity. Once again my sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Allison Arnott (Co-worker) on: Jan 15, 2022

  • We grieve to learn of Steve's passing. Jim and Steve worked together and became very close friends in the 70s during their R.C.M.P. postings in Winnipeg at that time. I remember Steve as a very humble, genuine, caring friend, always available at a moments notice for whatever one might need. He was a regular at our dinner table for several years and often joined us on many family and friend outings in Manitoba plus holidays on the St. Lawrence River near our homesteads in Gananoque, Ontario. We have so many great memories of early times together and we will treasure them forever. We send loving thoughts and deepest condolences to Steve's family. Steve will remain forever in our hearts xo - Rose - Posted by: Jim and Rosanne Butler (Longtime friends) on: Jan 15, 2022
