ROLF (LITO) CABARLES CUARESMA

It is with great sadness that the family of Rolf (Lito) Cabarles Cuaresma announce his passing. He passed peacefully on January 11, 2022, at the age of 77.
Lito was the youngest of seven children, born to Nicholas and Rufina Cuaresma on April 19, 1944 in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Lito was raised by his sister Generosa and maternal aunts, Florentina, Silvina and Filomena in Paoay, after his mother's passing, when he was eight months old.
Lito will be lovingly remembered as a mischievous character, especially in his early years. He often shared stories of his adventures while farming in the rice fields and causing a ruckus in school or his neighbourhood, always with an unmistakable twinkle in his eyes and joyful laughter.
He attended college, graduating with a teaching degree and taught elementary school for six years before immigrating to Canada. He settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, joining his wife Gina. Together they began building a new life in Canada and started a family. He enjoyed working with his hands in the manufacturing industry, as well as in his leisure time. He could often be found working on cars, even in the most extreme weather conditions. Lito had a zealous energy for life and enjoyed spending his time in the company of close friends and family, often over a delicious feast of Filipino dishes he prepared. Lito was an early riser, waking before the sunrise to prepare for the day, and worked hard until the end of the day. He enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing, hunting, and camping. He will always be remembered as carefree, and generous with his time and willingness to help others.
He is survived by his wife Gina and his three children, Michelle (Adam), Jason, and Kimberly (Shon). He will be remembered and missed dearly by his grandchildren, Brendan, Beckham, Rowan, Darion and Syria. His memory will be shared with his newest grandchild Sirye. He is survived by his sisters, Generosa (Guerzon) and Virginia Cuaresma. Lito will be loved and remembered by his many nephews, nieces, extended family and close friends.
Lito will be reunited with his parents, Nicholas and Rufina, his siblings, Elpidio, Bernardo, Lucena (Galsote), and Florencia (Tabilisima), and his aunts, Florentina C. Lacuesta, Silvina and Filomena S. Cuaresma, who raised him as their own while in the Philippines. May he be at peace and know that he was loved and remembered.
Viewing will take place Friday, January 21, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Lamay will commence at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Mass will take place January 22, 2022 at 11:45 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street, M.
