THOMAS EMMETT CARRABRE
December 25, 1923 – January 11, 2022

Tom "Kapoo" "Tootie" passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital. The family thanks everyone on the 8th floor Palliative Care Unit for their care during these final months. We also want to thank Father Greg Mulligan and Lilibeth Daeng for their friendship and for spending so much time with Dad.
Tom joins his beloved wife Alma, who passed away in 2018. He will be missed by daughter Joanne (Jim), sons, Pat (Mary Jo) and Jim (Cathy), and grandchildren, Kerry, Kelly, Gillian, Ariel, Kailey, Alex, Kelsey and Jordyn.
A man of deep faith who was always willing to help those in need, he started each day with prayers, then moved on to push-ups, sit-ups, and a long walk. He loved to work hard, especially if it involved digging or moving rocks. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for 74 years. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and his sense of humour was evident in the many hours he spent with them. They will always remember "those ducks quacking" or "listening for the woozel."
Like many young men of his generation, Tom served during the Second World War. His time was spent on a Corvette in the Naval Reserve.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Susan, sister Kathleen and brothers, Jim, John, Peter (Pat) and Joe.
The family is planning to gather in the Spring to hold a memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I first met Tommy when he and Alma were dating. I grew up on a neighboring farm to Alma, south of Carlyle, Sk. I spent alot of time with Alma, Tommy, Vi & Edna while I took my Nursing training at the old Grace Hospital. So many memories of this wonderful family, fun times at the Cottage, etc. - Posted by: Velda Currie nee Doty (Family friend) on: May 13, 2022

  • Dear Pat and Jimmy, just found out your dear dad passed away. I have such fond memories of your dad at the lake where we had so many laughs when we were kids. Especially when we play rummoli, swimming in the lake and when he bought his boat. Your parents always made everyone welcome. My sincere condolences to you and your family. He will be truly missed. Take care - Posted by: Heather Adamik (Friend ) on: Feb 10, 2022

  • I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Carrabre but I know he is with his beloved Alma. Mr. & Mrs. Carrabre were friends with my parents for many years. I will always remember them as being very kind and caring . When my parents were ill they were always there to support my family during that difficult time. When I lost my husband they checked on me all the time to see how I was doing. I will forever be grateful to them for that. I will also remember Mr. Carrabre for his daily walks and being in awe of the distances he would go. My deepest condolences to the family - Posted by: Theresa Sharman (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2022

  • Dear Pat! So sorry for your loss! Your Dad was a wonderful man! You are in my prayers! - Posted by: Jeannine Vermette (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2022

  • A great guy that will be missed. Tom was a very inspirational guy that was very proud of his family members and their accomplishments. He fascinated me with his memory and being able to recall dates and peoples names. Whenever I go for a walk now I think of Tom and will try and go a little further. A true "stubborn" gentleman.... - Posted by: Bob and Shelly Molinski (friend) on: Jan 18, 2022
