ANNETTE TOUGAS
(nee GOSSELIN)

December 4, 1944 - January 16, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annette Tougas (nee Gosselin), on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
She leaves behind to mourn her sons, Roland (Dominique) and Mark-Andy Behrens; and grandchildren, Daphne, Rosalie, Matthieu and Nadelle. Annette also leaves to mourn her brothers and sisters, Carmelle, Luke (Joan), Jules (Jeannette), Lynne (René), Claudette (Jean), Camil (Paulette), Roland (Marilyne), Richmond (Doris); brothers-in-law, Louis and Robert; sister-in-law Dianne; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Annette was predeceased by her parents, Antoine and Irma (nee Clément); sisters, Emilienne, Marie (Arthur) and Laurette; brother Hervé.
Annette was born in St. Boniface and was raised in St. Malo where she helped at the family restaurant. She met Léopold Tougas and they were married June 27, 1964. They lived in Ste-Anne and then made their way to Vancouver, BC where they lived for 11 years. They eventually made their way back to Ste-Anne where Annette would work at the reception desk of the Seine Medical Centre for many years.
Annette loved visiting with her grandkids and came over for her daily coffee. She always kept them busy either by playing cards, cooking or shopping at the Thrift Store across the street and hours of swinging in the schoolyard near her apartment. It's safe to say that they were her greatest loves.
Thank you to friends from the Villa Youville, emergency team and the Staff of Health Sciences Centre, for taking such good care of Annette.
The private family livestreamed memorial service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. To join the family via livestream, please visit the link posted on her obituary on Birchwood's website.

  • So sorry to hear of your mom's passing in such a tragic way. She was such a wonderful lady and will surely be missed. I remember our family gatherings. She loved to sing and dance. Her smile lit up the room. - Posted by: Nicole Rahn (Gagne) (Cousin) on: Jan 24, 2022

  • I grew up with the boys in the Gosselin family and as one of the older girls, Annette was like a matriarch to the boys. She left home early but always remained in contact. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and joie de vivre. Sincere sympathies to the families, rest in peace, you will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Paul Roy (Gosselin family friend) on: Jan 23, 2022

  • Sending heartfelt condolences on the loss of such a wonderful lady! We were so grateful for her relationship with Dad (Ted Parkes ). She had such a warm, loving, kind and gentle nature. I will miss the phone conversations we had been sharing since Dad passed. She was always so excited to speak of her family, especially the grandchildren! I am sure she will continue to watch over all of you, now that she has her heavenly wings. - Posted by: Tracie Loxton (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2022

  • So sad to hear of the tragic passing of our dear friend Annette. Our longtime friendship started in 1961, when myself and Leopold ( who met the love of his life that day) went to St Malo and stopped in at the Gosselin family restaurant. Like her family Annette was an inviting, warm and generous person. We will miss her infectious smile, laugh and most of all her friendship. - Posted by: Gerry and Joan Laramee (Friends ) on: Jan 20, 2022
