GERALD MAXWELL MOYSEY
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald (Gerry) Moysey, devoted husband and beloved son, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend on Sunday, January 2, 2022, in Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 74.
Gerry is survived by his wife Linda; his children, Gerry (Charlene), Craig (Amy), and Brittany; grandchildren, Olivia, Grace, Maxwell, Sophia and Lukas. He was predeceased by his parents, Maxwell (Max) and Elsie.
Gerry was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he enjoyed spending time with his many family (Moysey and Gellert) and friends. Early on he developed a lifelong love of music which he later shared with his wife Linda. Gerry worked at Canada Post for over 30 years where he formed many strong friendships. As a proud 'Winnipeger', he was a diehard Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers fan, including many years as a season ticket holder. He rarely missed watching a game, even after he and Linda moved to Ottawa in 2011. He was a huge animal lover who treated all of his dogs like his babies. Most of all, Gerry loved being together with his family for birthdays, Christmas and other special events as his family was his pride and joy.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, no funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Canadian Kidney Association (https://kidney.ca/Get-Involved/Make-a-Gift/In-Memory-Tribute-Donations).

I should have posted this long ago. I met Gerry at work and we also became friends. I spent many evenings at Gerry's listening to music. We also played golf together and attended a few sporting events together. Gerry always seemed to have a smile on his face and loved to laugh and joke around. Before he met Linda he did a great job of raising his two boys .... both turned out to be fine gentlemen. I can remember when Gerry met Linda (it was at a kids soccer game ) and he told me about this fine lady who could make anything into a pun. My thoughts and prayers for the family. - Posted by: Brian Quilty (Co-worker and friend) on: May 23, 2023

Gerry was my cousin . His Mom Elsie and my Dad Ernie were brother and sister. We lived in Thunder Bay when we were younger and made many trips to Winnipeg to spend time with our Aunts and Uncles and cousins. Gerry was a very sweet man and always kind and loving. We had a lot of great family times all together at many places thru the years. Sincere sympathy to Linda and his children and grands. We will all miss Gerry❤️❤️ - Posted by: Margo-Lynn Bratland (Cousin) on: May 23, 2022

My condolences to the Moysey family. Knew Gerry from high school days and into our 20s. Lost touch for awhile until I got a job at Canada Post and we reunited and worked together until he retired. Always good memories of him and a great guy. - Posted by: peter schneider (friend) on: Jan 28, 2022

My deepest condolences to Gerry's family especially his wife Linda and children Jerry, Craig and Brittany. When myself and Craig were together, he always treated me like family and had a great sense of humour. I will never forget his rendention of " A boy named Sue". May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Michelle Adaire (Maluga) (Acquaintance ) on: Jan 28, 2022

We became friends in the mid 50's and lost touch in the early 70's. Gerry loved music and driving cars. If I remember, he threw right, batted left, and golfed right but cross-handed. He did all sports very well. We re-connected briefly in the mid 80's and lost contact again. He was a honest, caring friend who was raised by his loving parents, Elsie and Max, who were the greatest. Condolences to the Moysey family. Rest my friend. I'll see you later. - Posted by: Bill Younger (old friend) on: Jan 25, 2022

I am saddened with the news of Gerry's passing. We had only recently re-connected after many years and chatted at length to catch up and regale each other of fun times and teenage shenanigans back in our East Kildonan days. Gerry had a great voice and sang lead for "The Rogues". A good band that never made it out of Rob Chadwick's basement! Our condolences to all the Moysey family. - Posted by: Doug and Roberta Anthony (old friend) on: Jan 22, 2022

My deepest sympathy. I lived across Bronx Avenue from Gerry in the 1950's and have many happy memories of playing with Gerry and the rest of our gang from the street. - Posted by: Kerry O'Shaughnessy (Childhood friend) on: Jan 22, 2022
