BRUCE SYLVESTER
March 4, 1956 - January 15, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our son, brother, and uncle. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Bruce passed away peacefully, at the age of 65, with his family by his side.
Bruce was predeceased by his mom, Tina. Left to cherish his memory is his dad, Ken (Josephine Arnason); brothers, Gordon (Pat), Daryl (Kim), Randy (Cindy); and his sister, Melori Capuska (Greg); 12 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Bruce was born in Carberry, Manitoba. Throughout his lifetime, he lived in; Sydney, Carberry, Oakville, Gimli, Calgary, Edmonton, but finally made Winnipeg Beach his home.
Bruce loved all sports, but as a child and into his early adult life, hockey was the sport he chose to play. Bruce started out as a goalie but found there was not enough action in net so moved onto playing as a defenceman. However, he often found himself in the penalty box just as much as he was on the ice. Bruce also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.
Bruce had many occupations over the years; working with his dad and brother in the family business, carpentry, semi- truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. Through these occupations, he made many lifelong friends.
Bruce was always willing to lend a hand, offer a favour, or be a chauffeur, never expecting anything in return. He also gave back to his community when he volunteered for a short time on the Gimli Fire Department.
Bruce lived life to the fullest and enjoyed having a good time. He looked forward to family gatherings and being with friends.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Many thanks to CancerCare, Palliative Care, and home care for the compassion they showed Bruce.
