MANUELA DE SOUSA MEDEIROS CARREIRO
March 23, 1946 - January 16, 2022

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth…And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth…" Our deeply loved Wife, Mother, Grand-Mother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and friend has made her final flight.
This woman, second to none, did everything in her power to elevate the dreams of those she loved. Born in Sao Miguel Azores and raised on the Island, Manuela was a woman who lived by a strong moral compass, personified selflessness, and gave generously so others could succeed. She worked diligently at whatever she did and welcomed any chance to learn something new.  All that remember Manuela cherish her love for cooking, flowers and gardening.
Manuela was ever grateful for the remarkable bond she shared with her husband Samuel for 52 years. Their devotion to each others' wellness, health, and happiness, was unparalleled. Her children meant the world to her, Samuel and Nelson.  She is also remembered by her daughter-in-law Raquel Shaughnessy and grandchildren,  Joshua Carreiro, Nathan Carreiro, Abigale Carreiro, Brock Carreiro, Jessica Carreiro and Chay-Anne Stone. Her grandchildren blessed her with two beautiful great-grandchildren, whose very lives honour this special woman, Isaac and Saveja Lamonica. The memory of her spirit also lives in the hearts of her goddaughter Mel Isaku and her nieces and nephews, Lurdes Boulet, Aida Isaku, Urbano Teixeira, Marco Amaral and Rui Amaral.  Manuela is predeceased by her sisters, Carmo da Costa (Alfred), Lurdes Teixiera (Urbano), Aida Amaral (John) and nephew John Amaral.
Our families offer their humble gratitude to the caregivers at the St. Boniface Hospital and Interlake Regional Health Authority who showed Manuela kindness and care in her time of absolute need – thank you. Thank you Aida (Sejdi) Isaku for the extra love and aid in helping your Aunt in her time of need.
The family will celebrate Manuela's life in a private gathering, but we appreciate your warm thoughts. "…And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod… The high untrespassed sanctity of space…Put out my hand and touched the face of God." Thank you, Manuela, for everything – you will be missed.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m, when Father Sam Argenziano will say a Mass of the Resurrection for Manuela. Interment will follow at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Live Streaming of the mass will be made available on the parish website: www.holyrosarychurch.ca
Pallbearers: Nelson Carreiro, Sam Carreiro, Marco Amaral, Nathan Carreiro, Adem Isaku, Brock Boulet

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord forever.
