DR. BERYLE JONES
It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Dr. Beryle Jones, on January 10, 2022, at the age of 85.
She will be dearly missed by her son Courtney; granddaughter Felicia; brother Gladstone; sister Norma; sister-in-law Eslin; niece Blueate; and other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanford Jones and Ruby McDonald; and also her brother Professor Edwin Jones.
Dr. Beryle Jones was born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1936 and moved to Canada in 1963. She was a dedicated educator in the province of Manitoba and she also served on many steering committees. As an educator, she taught at a few high schools, taught Aboriginal students in northern Manitoba through the Inter-University Northern Program, lectured at the University of Winnipeg in the Bachelor of Education program, and was also Sectional Instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. As a committee member, she was involved in the Congress of Black Women of Canada, where she addressed social issues affecting women of colour and their families. She was a founding member and first president of the Immigrant Women's Association of Manitoba, where she helped women who were encountering difficulties in getting their qualifications accepted within the Canadian system.
We would like to thank the entire staff at, Actionmarguerite Saint-Boniface especially those in unit 4AB, for their care and compassion.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held prior to service at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends wishing to attend virtually, may do so at: https://afterword.com/stories/dr-beryle-jones

In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Alzheimer Society is recommended.
