ANGELA KIM MCCOLL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Kim McColl. Awaiting the transplant that never came, Ang succumbed to liver disease in the early hours of January 15, 2022.
Ang was predeceased by her brother Ian, her grand-parents J.B. and Lucille Mulaire and her uncle Marv Taylor. She leaves to mourn her spouse, Doug McColl, her daughter Laura, her brother-in-law Dave McColl (Jaileigh), her parents Jocelyne and Ken Kowaski, step siblings; Sheri Kaul (Michael), Sean Kowaski (Kira Steinhauer), and Pamela Kowaski, her aunts Paulette Beaudette (Andy), Lorraine Taylor, Natalie Mulaire (Shannon Eisbrenner) , Suzanne and Mulaire (Jeff Harris), her uncle Jean Mulaire (Ruth), her cousins, and special friends Leanne Ursel and Kelly Horn.
Ang was a thoughtful, caring person with a hysterically funny and intelligent sense of humour. She was a social being, loyal to friends and friendships, always putting others before herself. She was the biggest of softies, especially towards her many pets, Gracie the cat and Ziggy the dog, being the latest beneficiaries of her goodness.
Ang's life took many twists and turns, but the best event was the birth of her daughter Laura in July 2006. She was a dedicated mother, working very hard to be and do the best for her, even though her illness made this difficult sometimes. Laura was definitely her little miracle.
When she was young, Ang loved sports, most notably baseball which she played at a competitive level while she was in school. She enjoyed watching football and was a passionate fan of the Winnipeg Jets, never missing a game on TV.
Throughout her life, Ang enjoyed music a great deal, mostly eighties rock, Iron Maiden and Michael Jackson being a couple of favorites. She attended several rock festivals over the years and of late, was known to listen to some tunes on Youtube and dance and sing to herself, sometimes in the middle of the night!
Ang was also a lover of the outdoors. She loved camping, especially at Tulabi Falls Campground. For Ang, any reason to get around a campfire was a good reason. The fire pit at the house where Laura was born was a site for many get-togethers with friends. The tiny yard behind Doug and Ang's house in East Kildonan got plenty of use as a playground for Laura and as the eventual site used by her mother to teach her to climb trees.
Ang always considered herself a tomboy and was proud of her ability to do hard physical work. Her job at ReStore was her favorite as she was challenged to move lumber, house fixtures and other construction materials. Recently her desire to flex her muscles found her with axe in hand splitting wood for the wood stove in the cottage at Winnipeg Beach.
Winnipeg Beach was her little piece of heaven. She, Doug and Laura eased into the cottage life in October of 2018. Ang loved posting photos of her paradise changing her cover photo or profile pics on FaceBook to sunrise scenes, lakeshore sites, full moons and northern lights. This quote from her FaceBook feed tells it all: "You know, as sick as I have been, I can't forget how lucky I am. A wonderful family, and wandering out on the deck at 1:30 in the morning with zero wind. U live here now. Whether it's for 5 years or 50…it's the happiest time of my life. -Ang"
A celebration of Angela's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private interment will take place at a later date at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. COVID PROTOCOLS REQUIRE ALL IN ATTENDANCE BE FULLY VACCINATED, ONLY THOSE WHO CAN SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION AND GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID WILL BE PERMITED TO ATTEND
Rest in peace dearest Ang. You were loved greatly and you will be missed even more.

  • My deepest condolences to you Doug, Laura, Jocelyne and Ken…. I’m so, so sad to hear that Ang has lost the battle that she has been fighting for so long. She always had a positive outlook, and could always make a cloudy day seem full of sunshine. She was always so fun to be around, always making people feel welcome, and always had kind words to say. I have many memories from when we were younger, lots of time spent camping at Tulabi…lots of laughs!! And a few more from the past few year… My regret is that we lost touch for a few years. I will always cherish my memories, and the time that we did have together. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. May you remember to hold tight to your memories. They will be with you forever. RIP Ang ❤️ Til we meet again. - Posted by: Kelly Horn (Friend ) on: Jan 23, 2022

  • I will treasure our special friendship in cadets and discovering eachother on facebook and picking up where we left off. She had such a beautiful big heart and an empathetic soul. I will have her in my heart. Forever. RIP SWEET ANGEL - Posted by: Tina Tagarelli (A good friend) on: Jan 22, 2022

  • The world has lost another beautiful soul too soon. Very few people have touched my heart the way Ang did. We lost touch many years ago and I made every effort to try and find her in that time, but it took many years to find one another. She told me that she had been looking for me as well. And after we reconnected it was as though no time had passed and we shared laughter and memories and that connection strangely made me feel whole again. Something I hadn't felt for years since Ian left us. During those conversations it wasn't hard to see the love that she had for Laura and Doug, and my heart goes out to them. And Jocelyn as well. I can't imagine the pain that you are all feeling. There are many things that I wish we could have said and done, but she left us too soon. But she will never leave my heart and she will be with me forever. Rest in peace Angela - Posted by: Scott Fraser (Friend ) on: Jan 22, 2022
