MARGARETHE ELIZABETH MAUTHE
(nee TONN)

January 27, 1926 - January 11, 2022

With saddened hearts, the family of Margarethe Elizabeth Mauthe (nee Tonn), 95 years, announce her final journey as she reunites with her parents and siblings in the Promised Land.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years in 1995, Wilhelm (Bill); her parents, Josef and Augusta Tonn; siblings, Reinhold (Bertha), Martha (Herman), Wilhelm, Adolph (Barbara), Frieda (Bill), Hilda (Arthur), Irwin (Isobel), Irma (John), Harold and five siblings in infancy along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She leaves to mourn her sons, Wayne (Rose), Donald (Wendy) and Harold (Ferne); grandchildren, Kris (Shannon), Mark (Yirirka), Derek (Sherry), Jill (Colin) and Darcy (Joelle); great-grandchildren, Jazmyne, Taylor (Stillman), Brayden, Marishka, Nickel, Rachel, Zander and Easton; sister-in-law and friend Marlene (Tom) Paterson; and her niece and friend Helen Tonn-Aylwin; sisters-in-law, Irene Mauthe and Elizabeth Mauthe-Single; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Margarethe (Margaret) was born in Glenella/Waldersee area (SE 33-18-22, Glenella Municipality) growing up on the family farm with her siblings in the Glenella/Waldersee area, later moving to the Plumas area until later in life when she moved to Winnipeg with her husband and family. She enjoyed decorating wedding cakes and making beautiful hand painted design quilts for family members. She enjoyed gardening and loved pruning her roses into award winning creations. She drove school bus, not the big canary buses, but a red cargo van converted with benches. Originally it was a caboose style built on the back of a pick-up truck. During the winter months, she could be found in the kitchen making donuts for the local hockey arena booth. She cherished her family and looked forward to and enjoyed all the gatherings. Friends abounded everywhere.
After her move to Winnipeg, she travelled Manitoba for Economy Textile, eventually retiring, she kept busy teaching driver training, was an active member of Toastmasters, volunteered with the Prince Edward Legion Branch 81 and the Elmwood Seniors Center. Eventually she moved into Riverside Lions Home and then Concordia Place in Winnipeg, where she was living at the time of her passing. As long as she was able, she attended a Lutheran church of her choice. She enjoyed singing and took part in seasonal choirs.
Special thanks to all the support staff at Riverside Lions Home and Concordia Place for the excellent care and compassion shown to our mom while under their care.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held at this time. Interment to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Margaret's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Concordia Place or a charity of your choice.
