I knew Dave for his gentle soul, sheer unselfishness, always their to help and kind heart besides his outstanding career as a musician, producer and recorder. Thank you Dave for helping my needy Mom whom was lost after my father passed. The countless things you did for her when you had your own place to tend to in Texas was heartwarming to say the least. In the early years I have fond memories of you, Penney and us having bonfires on your property which i have always cherished. Our sincere condolences to you and yours Penney. Thinking of you with love and light. Lisa and Claude Champagne - Posted by: Lisa M. Champsgne (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2022

George and I were already fans of the D-Drifters, and became more so after Penney introduced us to Dave. By invitation, we attended many functions that Dave played at. When George was a DJ, he would tell Dave how he could always get the crowd on the dance floor when he played the D-Drifters’ music, especially the polkas and kolomeykas, at socials and weddings. Our get-togethers were always very special because of his friendliness, sense of humour and kindness. He always gave a huge compliment after a fun night at our house. Thank you Penney for sharing your wonderful husband with us. It was a great honour to be in his presence. I know he has left you with many precious memories. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Anne Gates (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2022

Penny I am so sorry to hear. I hope to able to connect with you soon. You and Dave are such a huge part of my Maddock memories. I truly feel so fortunate to have had the childhood I did. Your place was a safe and inspiring one for me. I felt so lucky when I was allowed to go with Dave into the studio. The frog in the water cooler will stick with me forever. The reason the water bubbled!! You two are such a good team. Keeping your happy place beautiful. Filled with beautiful gardens and flowers. Keeping the deck stained and maintained. Letting me use my sidewalk chalk all over your driveway bricks! Helping me if I fell off my bike. You both hold such a special place in my heart. I think about you guys often. Sending love and strength Penny. Acres of Love Kristi & family - Posted by: Kristi Braun (Rafnson) (Past Neighbor ) on: Feb 01, 2022

I became good friends with Dave and all the guys from the D-Drifters. That was back in the 1970's when I was a Vice cop. My cop partner and I worked security for the D-Drifters and were more along just for the fun. They played in many towns as well as the cities. There were so many stories from back then I will never forget. To all of Dave's family I offer my most sincere condolences. Dave was a standup guy, a real gentleman, a great musician and someone who's friendship you truly cherished. A good man has gone to Heaven. Bill Bell. - Posted by: Bill BELL (friend) on: Jan 30, 2022

I meet David through his wife Penny many many years ago. David was an amazing veggie grower. He had such a passion to grow fruit and vegetables. He had such a passion and drive for gardening but also music. I had the blessing of both him and Penny at our place for my birthday. Hey played unforgettable music with my partners dad's accordion. It was a night I will never forget and watch the video often. David made a cd for us years ago and we cherish it still today. Penny I'm truly sorry for your loss! I still can't believe it. My sincere condolences to Penny and family. I was so shocked to read of Dave’s passing. I meet Dave at his music studio to buy some CD’s of the D Drifters who were my favourite band. He was a very talented musician and a super nice fellow who will be missed by all. I also went to listen to the D Drifters band at Club Regent when they used to play at Jaguar’s. The music world has lost a musical icon of Ukrainian music and all other types, and will be sorrowfully missed by all. - Posted by: Judy Shkolny (Fan of the D Drifters Band) on: Jan 22, 2022

Knowing Dave was one of the best things to have happened in my musical life. He taught me a great deal and together we spent literally hundreds of hours working on the many recordings I remember fondly. A true gent who always gave his everything and deservedly won the respect of so many. A huge loss for us all and I extend my deepest condolences to Penny and all those who knew and loved this truly wonderful fellow. - Posted by: Daniel Donahue (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2022

Dave was a very interesting and talented man. The hours that man spent working with the Teulon Veselka Ukrainian Dance Club were incredible. He created music for our dance club as well as spent the weekend supplying music for our festival, not charging what he could have but instead keeping the culture and activity going. I also danced to the D Drifters many a night. The entertainment world has lost a very dedicated man. - Posted by: noreen stone (friend) on: Jan 22, 2022
