ESTHER LIVINGSTONE (PERRAS)
Date of Passing: Jan 18, 2022Offer Condolences or Memory Make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Esther Mary Livingstone at the age of 77 on January 18, 2022 at home with her family. Mom's strength, courage, and determination was evident as she survived stomach cancer at the age of 38, followed by a two-year battle with lung cancer at the age 75.
Left to cherish her memory is husband of 54 years Dave; son Darrell (Rayann); daughter Denise (Jill); grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Sarah and Madison; as well as nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Donalda Perras and three siblings, Rene, Noella and Maurice.
Esther was born and raised in St. James and enjoyed being a hairdresser in her early years. In 1962, she met the love of her life, Dave and married in 1967. In 1970 they bought their show home on Springfield Road where she lived until the day she passed, just the way she wanted to. For the next two decades, she raised their two children and cherished every moment. In their younger years, Mom and Dad loved to travel to tropical destinations and saw many beautiful beaches. Esther had good friends that she kept close in her heart and always on her mind. Dave and Esther lived a wonderful life.
Esther had an eye for design and loved to decorate their home. She took pride in having themes for every occasion. During the summer months, Esther loved being outside. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping and maintaining the pool meticulously. She was also a self-taught crafter and had many hobbies including arts, crafts, knitting, cross-stitch, sewing, cartooning, puzzling, thrifting and shopping. Mom had a good sense of humour and had a quick wit about her with many one-liners. Mom was so handy and could fix anything. If she couldn't repair it, she would come up with something to make it work.
Esther had a special relationship with her granddaughter Taylor, she called them kindred spirits. Esther passed along and taught Taylor many crafting skills. She was so grateful for Taylor's around the clock care of over seven months until the night she passed. Taylor did not hesitate to move in with Mom and Dad in June and bring her kitty with her. Basil was a comfort to Mom and was with her by her side until she left this life.
Esther wanted to acknowledge Dr. Paul at CancerCare, Kija the wonderful palliative nurse, and TG the HCA for taking such good care of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
