ETHEL SARAH WYSOCKIE
(nee PARADIS)
It is with a profound and deep sadness that I announce the passing of my dear Mom on December 18, 2021, at the age of 96 years.
Ethel leaves to mourn and to cherish her memory, her son, Brian Edward Wysockie of Ottawa and three sisters in Winnipeg, Frances Blair, Joyce (Frank) Zador and Muriel Sprague, many nieces, nephews and their extended family, and many friends in Ottawa, Florida and Winnipeg.
Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Edward Wysockie of 54 years, her twin sons, Darin Evan and Daryl Earl, her parents, John and Mary Paradis, eight brothers, Edmond (Alice), Frank (Yvonne), Jack, Richard (Louise), George (Vicky), Ernest (Doris), Louis, Gordon (Violet); two sisters, Madeline Miazga and Angelina (George) Keam; brothers-in-law, John Blair and Robert Sprague.
Ethel was born in Minto, Manitoba, the seventh child in a family of 14 children and grew up in Brandon and small prairie towns, moving with family to Winnipeg in 1947. Mom was a beautiful, petite lady with green eyes and a warm heart. Ethel and Dan met in Meadows, Manitoba and were married in Winnipeg on November 27, 1948, where they resided.
In their retirement years, they enjoyed many a long, relaxing stay with their son, Brian in Edmonton where he resided. There were many road trips throughout Alberta and British Columbia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. When Brian moved to Ottawa in the mid 1990s, the road trips became Kingston, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Montreal. Ethel loved music, magazines, current news and events, shopping and her nightly cup of tea.
With the passing of her dear "Danny Boy" in 2002, Ethel moved to Ottawa to be near her son. Family was all important to her and she continued to keep in touch regularly with family in Winnipeg. In these later years, she enjoyed her Ottawa condo and time in Florida, especially the shopping. On many occasions in her mid-90s she would walk eight plus kilometres shopping, of course with Brian carrying all of her purchases.
Ethel will be dearly and sadly missed but also lovingly remembered forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in both Ottawa and Winnipeg.
Arrangements entrusted to Cole Funeral Services and Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 613-831-7122.

I was sad to learn of the passing of Auntie Ethel. My father – Gordon Paradis – was one of her many siblings but - over the years - the extended family spread out and we lost touch. I remember her as a child at many family gatherings. Accept our sincere condolences . - Posted by: Cindy Schulz (Paradis) (Niece) on: Jan 31, 2022

I will deeply miss my Auntie Ethel. She always called me on special occasions like my birthday and she never failed to make me laugh. I seldom saw her in her latter years because she had moved to Ottawa and then Florida but I thought about her often. When I did see her or talk to her she was always so sweet and so very kind. I shall miss you very much Auntie Ettie and I promise to never forget you. May you rest in peace. Love you always, Judy. XOXO. - Posted by: Judy Malloy (Niece) on: Jan 29, 2022
