INEZ SYDNEY EDWARDS
(nee BLUE)
1928 - 2022
Inez, age 93, passed away peacefully in Sidney, BC on January 27, 2022.
Inez is survived by her children: Carol Timmers (Ted), Shelley Edwards and Dave Edwards, plus seven grandchildren, (Matthew, Thomas, Elizabeth, Daniel, Adam, Emily and Mike), seven great-grandchildren, sisters, Lorna Arnold and Betty Deacon, close family friend Barb Edwards, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Inez was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Reg, in 2020, and by brothers, Lorne and Dale.
Inez was born in Selkirk, Manitoba and grew up in Tyndall and Winnipeg. She left her job with the Manitoba Power Commission in 1959 to become a stay-at-home mom, devoting the next 23 years to raising her children and participating in several volunteer activities. Family was central to Inez's life, whether it be with immediate members (at home, the cottage on Falcon Lake or on driving vacations across Canada) or with the extended family group. Inez took turns with her sisters (The Blue Girls) hosting "epic" Christmas and New Year's dinners with too many dessert choices and lots of laughs, particularly in the dishwashing assembly line, and where nobody without a place to go was ever turned away.
In 1999, after all children had left the nest and her mother (Gert Blue) had passed, this "prairie rose" agreed to move to Vancouver Island, fulfilling Reg's lifelong wish to live on the West Coast. It proved to be a great decision as they shared many wonderful new adventures and formed many new and treasured friendships.
Inez was unfailingly kind, a good friend to many and active in a number of groups throughout her life. She was always particular in her dress and manners and boasted a beautiful head of white hair that was always "done". She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Inez to the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia https://alzheimer.ca/en/bc or a charity of your choice.
