Died December 28, 2021
Gone too soon

Born at Grace Hospital. Attended Hastings Immersion, Norberry and Dakota High School.

Morgan loved gaming and was known for his computer skills. Some of his favourite places were the Darkzone and on the dance floor at local DJ parties. He loved cats and his kitten Jazz is healthy and has a good home. Life was not always kind to Morgan, and he encountered many challenges. We are devastated not only at his loss, but at the loss of future opportunity to improve his circumstances. No matter what life threw at him, he never stopped trying, and we are inspired by his tenacity and will miss his humour.
Donations to Winnipeg Humane Society or the Addictions Foundation in his name are appreciated.
Burial will be at the Ridgeville Cemetery.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I met Morgan thru mutual friends in 2001. We stayed friends over the next 20 years, speaking on and off until weeks prior to his passing. Morgan had a passion for music and festivals/parties. I shared that passion and we attended a lot of the same shows at The Pyramid, Die Machine/Chaos and underground parties at spots like Soccer Spectrum and the arena in Lorette. Those were some of the best days of my life! Morgan kept every flyer because he, too, cherished those memories. Morgan was an intriguing character who I will never forget. He was smart, generous, and a gentle soul. We faced similar challenges and tragedies, and in our final chats we opened up about how painful those losses were to us. I'm grateful we got the chance to speak about those things. But it is far too early to say goodbye. The awesome memories now seem surreal and hollow, but those memories are all I'm left with now. My condolences to Morgan's family and friends. Morgan, I miss you buddy. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Tony (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2022

  • Morgan Gilchrist is the oldest friend I was still in contact with... We were friends since I was in Grade four. As pre-teens we got into all kinds of shenanigans!! We’d sneak out late at night and explore abandon buildings. I remember one time at 2:00am sprinting a ¼km on freshly laid sidewalk; we got caught and had to refinish our footmarks!! Another time we hitch hiked across town to a friend’s. In 1996 I brought him to my brother’s in Calgary for springbreak. His dad (rip) had a 8’x8’ tree-house with a couple couches in it. It became a party spot and packed about 20 teenagers! Despite going different ways I continued reaching out to Morgan and will continue considering him one of my best friends. - rip - Posted by: Keith D (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2022

  • We had a lot of fun as kids, on the farm in Ridgeville, sleepover's on the weekend and family dinner's. You are missed & won't be forgotten - Posted by: Alisa O (Cousin) on: Feb 07, 2022

  • Morgan was my nephew and although he’s gone he is still my nephew. I will always remember his curiosity. He was a gentle spirit. He never talked much but was always kind. He came out to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island with Bob and Sharene and we all went to Long Beach on the West coast. They really enjoyed themselves in the cold, rolling water. Such an experience for Prairie people. I will miss you Morgan. You will always be in my heart. - Posted by: Jan Gilchrist (Aunt) on: Jan 29, 2022
