LUCILLE TOLAINI
Lucille Tolaini passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family by her side.
She leaves to mourn her daughters, Lia Tolaini Banville (husband Michael Banville) and Tina Jones (husband Mike Jones), and son Paul Tolaini (wife Rebecca Tolaini). Lucille will be sadly missed by her adoring grandchildren, Matthew Banville (wife Karleigh Banville), Alex Banville, Alicia Banville (husband Kyle Sumner), Adam Jones, Julia Jones, Mariska Tolaini; three great-grandchildren, Karter, Khloe and Louie Banville-Sumner who will all miss her dearly. She also leaves to mourn one brother Aime Deleau and his children, Joyce and Rick, as well as her brother Maurice's son Bob Deleau. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Alice and Emile Deleau, her brother Maurice Deleau, his wife Eileen, and her ex-husband Pier Luigi Tolaini.
Lucille was born May 19, 1939 in Souris, MB to Alice (Vodon) and Emile Deleau. Lucille was a hairdresser when she met and then married Pier Luigi Tolaini in Virden, MB September 21, 1961. They moved to Brandon in 1972 and by 1980 Lucille was a successful real estate agent. After a few years she owned her own real estate company, Dream Home Realty. Lucille was a volunteer for many events in Brandon like the Labatt Briar and the 1979 Jeux Canada Games. Lucille moved to Winnipeg in 1990 to be closer to her family. She worked in real estate for Qualico Homes in Winnipeg and then eventually retired to assist her daughter Tina, at her wine store. She spent 22 winters at Paradise RV Resort in Sun City, AZ which was truly home for Lucille. There she forged many incredible relationships and became very well known, especially for her annual Fish Fry. Lucille had an incredible "joie de vivre" and was always ready to welcome a friend or neighbour into her home for a glass of wine. Her constant smile, infectious laughter, and infinite positivity will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Lucille was battling lung cancer, bladder cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, and congestive heart failure. She had a major heart attack November 23, 2021 and then returned to the hospital December 1 with pneumonia. She beat them all. Her courage and fighting spirit were unparalleled. It never stopped her from saying, "I'm going to live to 100." In the end, the pneumonia returned and she couldn't beat it the second time.
Lucille did not want a funeral. "No funeral, no fuss please. Wine only." A Celebration of Life will be held on March 12, 2022 in Winnipeg. Considering the times we now live in, this is subject to change. We would encourage you to follow Lucille's Facebook page for updates.
We will always be grateful for the extraordinary care and compassion of the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please choose to donate to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, in her name. Donations can be made here: https://stbhf.ca/en/

Lucille and Pier Luigi were my Godparents, and as a child growing up they were wonderful teachers on the importance of being a good person and of working hard, while also remembering that family provides a foundation beyond all others. My prayers are with you. - Posted by: John Stevenson (Godson) on: Mar 21, 2022

My sincerest condolences to Lia, Tina, Paul and families for the recent passing of Lucille. I was very fortunate as a youth to be accepted into the Tolaini family, as a friend of Paul’s, and Lucille played a significant roll. In fact, she played such a significant roll in my life, that I referred to her a Mom #2. And over the years she certainly cared and parented me with the acceptance as one of her own. I am forever grateful and will miss her contagious laugh and bubbly spirit. Rest in peace Mom #2. - Posted by: Shane Lacharite (Friend ) on: Feb 03, 2022
