Mom was born on June 8, 1951, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised on the Sagkeeng First Nation. She was a Residential School Survivor, Sagkeeng First Nation Elder, and an expert Bingo player. She worked as a Nurse at the George M. Guimond Care Centre for many years and volunteered her time for numerous Liberal Candidates' Campaigns on the Provincial and Federal stage. She always was available to support her brother Phil's political campaigns. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and spoke of them often. She developed and forged deep relationships with many friends and families throughout her life. Her family knew that her door was always open and that she would never turn anyone away who needed help. She loved her siblings and extended family members very much. In Mom's last year on Mother earth, she was extremely saddened and lonely after her daughter Lori-Ann's passing and often spoke about wanting her own mother's support and guidance. She is now with her mom and daughter in heaven with all her beloved family who have gone before her.
Wake and funeral service will take place at Sagkeeng First Nation. Wake will be at the Anglican Church from Saturday, February 5 commencing at 3:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Monday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Saint Alexander Roman Catholic with the interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
