DOROTHY SKIBA
(nee HECKERT)

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Dorothy passed away on February 1, 2022.
She was predeceased by her husband Mike and her parents, John and Antoinette.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kevin (Pam), Darryl (Sabina), Kelly (Jodi), Christa (Calvin) and grandchildren, Sydney, Logan, Rylan and Carly. She is survived by her brother Brian (Elaine) and sister Bonnie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces.
Dorothy was born in Belgium on September 30, 1945, and at an early age came to Manitoba with her mom by boat to be with her dad and grew up in Selkirk. She met her husband Mike and they raised four kids together. As we grew older, Mom got a job at Sunset Thermographers where she worked until retirement.
Mom loved family get-togethers, spending summers at Hillside Beach, reading, puzzling and her numerous TV shows. Many hours were spent in the kitchen cooking for her family. Mom loved her furry friends. She was a big Jets fan. She enjoyed travelling where she acquired a taste for Sangria. She loved going to the Y to meet with her friends for Aqua Fitness class, but really it was a gab session!
Mom received exceptional care throughout her illness and we would like to extend special thanks to CancerCare Manitoba especially to Dr. Banerji and Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
