GLORIA HEWAT
November 24, 1946 - January 27, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gloria Hewat, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on January 27, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital.
Gloria will be missed by Ken, her husband of 55 years, her three children, Michael (Kelly), Gwen (Steve), and Mandy, and her grandchildren, Nikaela (Chris), Carter, Terrace (Kayla), and Taylor. Also mourning her passing are her brother Arnold (Carol), sister Debbie, brother-in-law Wilfred (Janice), brother-in-law Ronald (Colleen), sister-in-law Barbara (Gord), and numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Steve and Mary, sister-in-law Nettie and other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gloria was born in district of Riverbend, Manitoba to Steve and Mary Kruk. On September 3, 1966, she married Ken Hewat. They started their life together in Revelstoke, BC where they had their first child (Michael). Shortly after they moved to Thompson, MB where they had their second child (Gwen). They lived in Thompson for five years and then moved to Winnipeg, MB where they settled and had their third child (Mandy).
Gloria had various customer service jobs over the years and retired from the housekeeping department at St. Boniface Hospital in 2006. Some of her interests were playing and watching golf and curling. She also loved flowers: from orchids to hydrangeas and especially the cherry blossoms in BC. She loved laughing, dinners with family, and spending time with her close friends. She was truly blessed.
The family would like to thank the staff on the palliative ward at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion during her stay.
Cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will be arranged at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Gloria's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or, because of her love of animals, to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
