JENNIFER ANN FOSTER
Jennifer Ann Foster, 78, died February 4, 2022, at Lewis Hall, Parkland at the Lakes in Dartmouth. Born in Winnipeg on April 3, 1943, she was the daughter of Trish (Doyle) and Doug Jones.
Jennifer and her husband Jim grew up in Winnipeg, moving to Port Williams and then Blomidon when Jim began work at Acadia University. Jennifer maintained close relationships with her family in Winnipeg and created an extended family in the Annapolis Valley with friends made through Acadia, the Catholic Church in Canning and her community involvement.
Throughout her life, Jennifer enjoyed helping others and was a passionate volunteer for many causes, including Planned Parenthood, the Wolfville Food Bank and helping to settle immigrant families. In her work she took on many roles: she was a municipal councillor; a director and coordinator for Interchurch Housing, a non-profit housing society; and a provincial Liberal party candidate. She spent many years caring for her husband, Jim, during his lengthy illness. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time with her friends. She had many enduring and close friendships, to mention just a few, these included Lynn Walker, Pat Hawes, Jacquie White and Claudette Lafferty.
Jennifer was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Jim. She leaves behind her children, Andrew (Melody Bourgeois) and Kate (David Thompson) and grandchildren, Maya and Portia Foster Thompson, all of Dartmouth; sisters, Mary Kate Martin (Greg), Winnipeg; and Elizabeth Jones (Paul Sullivan), Vancouver; brother, Bob Jones (Marsha), Winnipeg; sister-in-law, Helen Borger, Winnipeg. Also surviving her are nieces and nephews: Alan, David and Kathy Borger; Noah, Meaghan, Luke and Ben Jones; Sam and Adam Martin; John and Ann Sullivan.
Following family wishes, and due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in Blomidon Cemetery, Houston's Beach.
The family thanks the staff and caregivers at Lewis Hall, Parkland, and Dr. Matt Targett for their kindness and excellent care of Jen.
Donations in memory of Jen may be made to the Wolfville Area Inter-Church Council for the Food Bank.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home.

Hello Fosters: In loving memory of Jennifer, she was bred with the beatitudes and solid with integrity. Cannot forget her commitment to low income housing. She set a fine example, I wish more women of this generation had mentors like her. Best regards, Dan Costello - Posted by: Dan Costello (Fond memory of Jennifer ) on: Mar 06, 2022
