DOROTHY JOAN ADOLPH
(nee RUDOLPH)

January 30, 1931 – February 5, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dorothy Joan Adolph, beloved wife of Elmer Adolph, daughter of Anne and Alfred F. Rudolph, and cherished friend.
Dorothy (Dodie) was born in Brandon, Manitoba the only child of Anne and Alfred F. Rudolph. During her early years, her family moved to Winnipeg, purchased a home on Church Avenue and her father started a furrier business.
Dorothy attended Faraday School and St. John's High School. After graduation, she worked in the family furrier business and then for 17 years as a medical receptionist at the Winnipeg Clinic.
It was at Faraday School, she met her friends for life, Anne Warga and Jenny Carter, with whom she shared 75 years of fun. It was on one of those adventures, a train trip to the Winnipeg Beach Pavilion, that Dorothy met her future husband, Elmer Adolph. They were married on June 30, 1956 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church and were blessed with 65 happy years of marriage.
In 1965, Dorothy and Elmer purchased their home in Fort Richmond and lovingly cared for both home and gardens. Dorothy's gardens of beautiful flowers were a source of joy, especially her treasured lilies. She was a great cook, enjoyed hosting many dinner parties, took painting lessons and loved doing a variety of crafts.
Antiquing was one of Dorothy's passions. She and Elmer spent many a Saturday hunting for treasures all over Manitoba and refinishing the furniture they found.
Dorothy treasured her friends Anne and Jenny. Over the years, she and Elmer spent winter vacations with Anne and Roy Warga in Arizona and travelled with Jenny and Ed Carter to Europe, both east and west coasts of Canada, Alaska and many other states in the USA. They also enjoyed travelling to visit friends and family in British Columbia and Oregon. Dorothy and Elmer loved time spent with Beryl and Paul Magel and with numerous friends.
Elmer extends his thanks and appreciation to everyone for their kindness and compassion while Dorothy was in their care.
Cremation has taken place and Dorothy will be laid to rest at a future date.
