MARGARET (PEGGY) SCHOFIELD GIBBONS
(nee DIGGLE)
It is with deep regret and a sense of joy that we announce the passing of Margaret (Peggy) Schofield Gibbons on December 11, 2021.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband Jack Graydon Gibbons and her siblings, Annie and Harry.
Peggy held deep religious beliefs and convictions. She had a strong commitment to her church and community. Peggy practiced her beliefs with discipline and consistency her entire life.
We were blessed to have experienced her genteel demeanour and selfless, gentle spirit.
Peggy graduated from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing (Calgary) in 1945. A consummate nurse, she had a lifelong interest in medicine and the health and care of others. Wherever she worked, Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba, she was known for her competence, kindness and compassion.
Peggy married an Anglican clergyman in 1956 and continued her nursing career while supporting her husband's extremely hectic life as a clergyman. Peggy was always prepared to sacrifice her own needs and desires without hesitation.
Peggy had a love for horses and she went riding at every opportunity. She was still riding at 90 years of age!
Peggy always managed to find humour and made many comical observations at the most surprising of times. Many family members and friends can attest to her wit and demeanour.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Kathleen Gibbons and her husband Ray Kehler. Peggy also had a grandson Jack Gibbons Kehler, a true source of pride and joy for her. She and her grandson had a special kind of relationship. Peggy is also survived by her sister-in-law Lorna Diggle and many valued and cherished nieces and nephews.
A special mention must be made of her nieces, Margie Polushin and Kathy Galloway. Both were there for her, providing support and assistance whenever possible. Margie and Peggy were true kindred spirits, and it was a joy to see them together. Thank you as well to Jane Berry for all the efforts she made to assist mom.
Although she is gone, we were indeed fortunate to have had her in our presence, if only for a while.
Funeral services will follow at a later date. An announcement will be made at that time.

I am sorry to see that Peggy has passed away and yet we cannot help but celebrate that now she is in Heaven with Our Lord, all the saints and Jack! I am sorry to have lost contact with her so many years ago, yet I still remember her kind and gracious nature and the source of strength she and Jack were to me when I was brand new to the Christian Faith. I remember on the last occasion we visited in Edmonton she asked me to choose one of Jack's stoles. I still think of Jack with warmth each time I wear that purple stole during Lent. Thank you Lord for such a warm and gracious person in our lives. Bless Cathy, Ray, Jack and all the family, hold them in your love and care. Amen. - Posted by: Ven.
