STEPHEN KNYSH
July 26, 1931 - February 2, 2022

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Steve Knysh on February 2, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 90.
Predeceased by his mother Anne, father Bogdan, first wife Frances Medal and their son Ronnie Knysh, second wife Fern Knysh, stepsons, Troy and Scott Knysh.
He will be missed by his loving wife Carol, his sons, Randy, Richard, Raymond, Rodney (Darlene), Jay (Amanda), stepdaughters, Brendyce Sararas (Brian) and Kerry Wahl; stepsons, Jamie and Derek Marshall. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Steve was born in Brandon, MB and was the eldest of five children. He lived most of his life in Narol, MB near Lockport before residing in Frasers Grove.
His working career began at Winnipeg Transit, gaining experience on the original trolley cars. He then went into construction building homes in Laurie River and Lynn Lake, MB before starting Knysh Construction in 1973. He started other business such as Sun Resistor and S&F Mobile Home Service.
Steve supported the Teddy Bear Picnic and participated in the annual Santa Claus Parade. He was a founding member of the Heavy Equipment Rental Association of Manitoba which is now known as H.E.A.T.
Steve enjoyed several years membership in the Airstream Club of Manitoba and spent many Thursday evenings bowling at Mosienko Lanes. After bowling he would finish the night with friends at Kelekis restaurant. He enjoyed music and Ukrainian dancing, taking pride in watching family members perform at Folklorama and Dauphin. He always enjoyed a good Ukrainian meal with family, or simply grabbing a hotdog at the Half-Moon.
We would like to thank everyone that has reached out with condolences.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, February 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. All in attendance must wear a mask and provide proof of vaccination. A private family interment will take place at a future date.
