LEROY EWING JOHNSON

Peacefully at his care home, Dad passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the age of 100. That was one of his goals was to make it to live to be 100.
He was born on the family farm in Otterburne West, Manitoba in 1921, where he lived most of his life. Together mom and dad raised 13 children.
As a young man, Dad served in the Second World War for four years. He then returned to the farm, where over the years, it was expanded to a large grain farm. Along with farming thousands of acres, they raised turkeys and pigs. While farming, he served as a school trustee, municipal councillor and sat on the St. Pierre Hospital board. He and other poultry farmers were involved in the creation of Granny's Poultry Co-op. Dad served as President and a board member for many years.
Dad and Mom travelled to numerous places around the world including a few trips to Japan, China, Europe and all the United States and Canada. He loved going to all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean just for the buffets. Dad loved his food. He loved Mom's homemade pies the best. He was also quite the talker. He loved talking to people and always had a story to tell or a joke to share. He thought his jokes were so funny even after telling them time after time.
Dad lost two sons, Kim and John as infants and later in life, two daughters, Darlene and Kandy. Then in 2011 he lost his wife, our mom (Jeannette).
He leaves behind his four sons, Donald, Van (Claudette), Lloyd (Colleen) and Leroy Jr. (Karen); five daughters, Bonnie (Allan), Robin (Gino), Toby (Luc), Kelly (Randy) and Tracey (Tom) and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His last few years were tough for him, as he fought to live right to the end.
The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home for such compassion and care for Dad while he was there. Your kindness and care were greatly appreciated.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

Dad, Mom is waiting for you!!
