HAZEL SNOWDON
Hazel passed away February 2, 2022. She saw her chance and peacefully made her departure.
Born on December 2, 1936, and raised in Altamont, MB at the family farm. Hazel was the last of five children to be born. Hazel was a free spirit, never married and had no children. She was smart and worked hard for a living and moved out before she was 18. Her first job was a teacher. When Hazel made friends, it was for life and she never took anyone for granted. Hazel was funny, witty and had a heart of gold. She was classy, flashy, and talented. Along with her various jobs during her early youth, Hazel found her calling while working at Winnipeg Photo. Even after it changed its name to Life Touch, Hazel stayed with them. She finally retired after 40 years in the 1980s. She was an avid curler. When she was not curling, she was doing needlepoints. Hazel was also a diehard fan of the Jets and Bombers.
Most of her friends and family have predeceased her. She always said she was going to hunt them down one day. She will finally get the chance. Hazel was the family historian. I thought I knew it all. I'm sorry I didn't write her life down on paper. I may have missed a few things here, but Hazel would say, "that's ok!"
Until we all meet again Hazel, we will miss you.
Hazel is survived by her nephew Don Snowdon in Saskatoon, nephew Scott Snowdon in Altamont, her niece Kelly Earis and husband Patrick, Hazel's great- niece and nephew, April and Adam Earis, of Grande Pointe, MB. Hazel was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and Allen Snowdon, and sisters, Wilma Swift and Muriel Snowdon. Her lifelong partner, Tony Lussier.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place this summer at the Altamont cemetery for family and close friends. Flowers are graciously declined.
