JOSEPHINE (JO) GRACE MEYER
December 31, 1926 - February 7, 2022
Jo peacefully passed away February 7, 2022. Jo was born in Winnipeg, MB.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Olive Meyer, sister Marion and brother-in-law Victor.
Jo always had wonderful stories of growing up in Winnipeg as a child. Walking with her grandpa, summers at Granite Lake with her cousins. Jo started her work career with T. Eaton in the fancy wears department, later moving to sales; then deciding to join BMO bank for over 30 years. Jo loved to travel, her Blue Bombers, puzzles, golf, curling. She belonged to The Wildwood Country Club for many years golfing, and during the winter curling. She was a season ticket holder of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for over 50 years. Travelled to Toronto for her first Grey Cup with her friend Margaret. Then attended a Grey Cup in Winnipeg. Jo was a wonderful story teller, always had such wonderful little sayings. Was always up for an adventure. Jo had a small circle of friends and family, her chosen family. If you were fortunate to be one of those people you were blessed. She was truly a beautiful soul.
A huge thank you to her great-niece Jenn for such loving care, helping Jo stay in her home for so long. Thank you to her favourite little restaurant The Daily Burge they were truly so kind to her.
Rest in Peace Auntie Jo you will be missed, we love you with all our hearts.

Jo was my Mum's (Eleanor) cousin. They were cousins but also lifelong friends. It was wonderful to hear Jo, Marion and Mum laughing and telling stories about their childhoods, particularly time spent at the cottage. Jo was a lively and generous woman who always took the time to chat whether you were young or old. She will be missed on earth, but those who are waiting for her in heaven will be delighted to see her. Love Barb and family. - Posted by: Barbara Dodd-Jones (family) on: Mar 10, 2022

I met up with Jo many years ago at the Bank of Montreal at Portage & Vaughan. She was great fun to work with! My Uncle Bob Kerr was her Manager for a few years. My Mom Ailsa Heap had worked with Jo's sister Marion and they all enjoyed visits at B of M Ladies lunches. Marlene Sturrey and Jo and I kept in touch with lunches to keep in touch after we left the bank. I last bumped into Jo at Oakview Place when my mom lived there and Jo was visiting a friend. What a great photo of Jo, she did have a bit of an impish smile! Heartfelt sympathy to her family. "Jo" was absolutely delightful! - Posted by: Jane Romaniuk (former bank co-worker and friend) on: Feb 12, 2022

Jo’s love of the Bombers and the depth of her CFL knowledge were incredible and infectious. I had the joy of hosting she and Margaret when they came to Toronto for Grey Cup. What an experience, they would call me at work to let me know where to find them at the festivities. Fantastic but exhausting trying to keep up with them! Visits to Winnipeg were always enhanced by spending some time with Jo. Her friendship with my Aunt Margaret a blessing to our whole family She was definitely a jewel and will be missed. - Posted by: Diane Reed (Niece of Margaret ) on: Feb 12, 2022

I knew Jo back in 2006. She told me many stories of her travelling and her golf games. She was one of the sweetest ladies I had the pleasure of knowing. There was one comment she made that I will never forget. When telling me she had never married, she said she likes to think of herself as an undiscovered jewel. What a jewel indeed. - Posted by: Kim k (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2022

I remember with fondness the many conversations we had at Knox United Church and afterward at St. Andrew's. Such a vibrant woman..full of life, and kind. She could always make you laugh. One of our church choir's biggest fans. You will be missed. - Posted by: Eileen findlay (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2022
