WILLIAM SAYDAK
In loving memory of Bill Saydak, who passed away peacefully, on February 8, 2022, at the age of 95 years.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Ella Saydak (nee Cyr); his son Greg (Margaret); his granddaughter Taylor; numerous family and friends, especially his good friend Allan.
Bill was born in Winnipeg on October 19, 1926. He was raised in Elmwood, the youngest of five; three brothers and one sister, Peter, Joseph, Carl, and Stella. Easter bread, perogies, borscht, cabbage rolls and peroshki were all made with love by mom, Tekla.
Bill obtained a job at the railway at an early age and would retire at 65, 48 years later. He was a friendly guy, liked to chat and absolutely loved the game of golf. He would drive himself to the Lorette Golf Course at the age of 90, to play as many holes as he could.
Bill met his wife Ella, a vivacious French girl when she was also working for CN at the union station, along with her sister Lucy.
They married in 1958 and Gregory William was born at Christmas in 1959. They lived almost all their married life in Elmwood, not far from where Bill grew up. For many years the little sign outside the front door said, "Here lives a golfer with his best score ever."
Bill and Ella enjoyed camping, many trips to Mexico, cruises, and a busy social life with family, friends and neighbours. In 1984, their son Greg married Margaret, and in 1991 they were thrilled to welcome their granddaughter, Taylor Paige into their lives.
In later years, Bill and Ella moved to Concordia Village where they continued to be always friendly, social and active. Eventually, they moved across the street to Concordia Place where Bill was cared for by the excellent and dedicated staff of the 2nd floor. Bill would like every one of them to be thanked.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for spring.

Greg..... it has been many years since we’ve seen one another ... so sorry to hear of the loss of such a good man I grew up with Greg and had the great opportunity to know his parents who were so friendly and would open their house and make me feel welcome every time My fondest memories of your dad will always be the golf games. He was good and it made us want to be better at the game ... Every time I would drive on Castle I would hope to see your mom and dad outside so I could stop and say hi. My condolences to the family and thanks for the memories Bill.... RIP - Posted by: Dave (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2022
