RANDOLPH KEITH MIDZAIN
May 1952 – January 2022

Randy passed through this life in the early hours of January 6, 2022, to rejoin his beloved wife, Judy, his dear sister, Linda, and his parents, Mike and Ruth, (all predeceased.)
Family was very important to Randy - he remembered every birthday and never forgot to call and serenade the birthday girl or boy with his unique rendition of "Happy Birthday." He had a variety of interests and pursued each hobby with focus and drive until he reached a high level of skill and knowledge, whether it be the comic genre, photography, chess, or computer technology.
Randy had a gift for words and used this successfully as a reporter and editor for several community newspapers in BC before moving to 'Winterpeg' in 1978 to join the Winnipeg Free Press. This love of language and its nuances extended to his ability to entertain us all with a joke for every occasion. Some were better than others, but all were 'family friendly' so his young nieces and nephews could join in the fun and guffaws.
Although Randy lived much of his life with physical challenges and pain, he worked hard to not let this define him. He had an open heart and welcomed friends and family members into his world.
He will be missed by his stepdaughter Kathy (Gord), and extended family in Winnipeg. Also left to miss his phone calls and chats is his family in BC: his siblings, Anne, Katharin, Tom, Lesley (Martin), as well as his nieces and nephews - Tracy, Mike, Liam, Teryn, Rhys, Brett, Caitlin, Petra, Willem, Kailyn, and their respective partners and children.
A family gathering and sharing of memories will be held later when safety permits.
