HELEN EMELIA GOSHLAK
June 5, 1924 - February 8, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen on February 8, 2022. Helen lived a full, active life and passed away peacefully in her home at the Holy Family Towers.
She is survived by her nephew Dennis (Rosalie) Leswick of Mississauga, Ontario and their children, Michael and David Leswick and their families; nephew George (Linda) Hayes, along with numerous other family members. She was predeceased by siblings, Olga (Oldge), Julia Leswick, William, Walter, Mary Hayes and Theodore (in infancy), as well as niece Helen (Holly) Leswick.
Helen was born in Winnipeg and attended St. Nicholas School, King Edward and Isaac Newton High. She worked for the Department of Fisheries. She was a lifelong member of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and actively participated in its many activities. Helen was active in sports, especially in golf centered at Pine Ridge Golf Club where she was a member for many years. Helen also had a high interest in classical music and was involved in choral work for a major part of her life, most notably with the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and the O Koshetz choirs. Her choir activities meshed with her love of travel including choral tours of Europe and South America. Helen also had a particular fondness for Las Vegas. She was an ardent "spectator sports" fan of a wide range of sports, especially golf, football and hockey.
The family would like to thank Comforts of Home for supporting her wishes to stay in her apartment in her final months and Sandra Slonoski for her help in Helen's healthcare journey.
Cremation has taken place and a private burial and service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary school or a charity of one's choice.

I was a care giver for Helen over summer last year and absolutely adored spending time with her. She had many great stories about life and was so humorous. I remember we would watch the activities in the garden area from her suite in the tower and she just loved it! She was a high light of my summer last year and I have missed her greatly since quitting Comforts and going back to school. She was for sure my favourite client and I will always remember her. She will have a special place on my heart for the rest of my life. My deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Sondra (Caregiver) on: Mar 01, 2022
