RICHARD (KENNETH) SMALL
On Sunday morning, February 13, 2022, I lost my very dear friend, companion and husband. We had 42 wonderful years of marriage. Ken was a take-charge kind of man, and when we met he immediately helped me get on with life. Ken had it all, a faith life which he practiced every day, a sincerity that enabled people to trust him and a grand sense of humour.
Ken was born in Toronto on Valentine's Day. He was educated at various schools in Ontario. He loved cottage life and swimming in the lakes, whether it was his family's cottage or any other body of water. Ken spent time in the Canadian Air Forces, and afterwards he became interested in the car business, especially the parts departments. He was following in the footsteps of his father. Ken loved cooking and it was a pleasure to have him take care of the BBQ or oven. Never afraid of a challenge he was most content when he found a new recipe to try.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight in Edmonton. His faith life was important to him and he continued learning by joining the neocatecumenal group at St. Alphonsus.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Morley and Evelyn Small, and his brother Jeffrey. Family who are left with their memories are his son Scott Thomson, children, Brandon (Leanna), Dustin (Erica) and Kimberly; daughter Janice Otto (Jeff) and children, Gordon (Cassie) and Alicia (Mario). Ken's sisters who are missing him - Maureen (Steve), Laura (Sze) and Janine (Jean Marc) and his brother Doug (Gale).
Also surviving Ken are three precious great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Wendel and Wren.
Memorial service will take place in May.
Wishing you happiness and peace in
God's garden! Love you forever.
