DAVID GLEN
March 24, 1942 February 8, 2022
Peacefully on February 9, 2022 our beloved father, brother, husband, friend, grandfather and great-grandfather, David Glen, passed away at the age of 79.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughters, Paige (Bryce) and Ashley; his brothers, Jim and Don (Heather); his grandchildren, Danielle and Alexander; and his great-grandchild Aaliya.
David was born in Winnipeg to parents, John and Vera Glen on March 24, 1942. He married Patricia Maltby in 1967. They had two beautiful daughters: Ashley and Paige. He was always there to help them and there was never any doubt that he loved them with all of his heart. His daughter Ashley fondly recalls long walks with him and ruminating about current events. Dave adored his other daughter, a lovable old English sheepdog, Sara, who he treated like a person.
David's strong work ethic began early when he began delivering newspapers at the age of 15, becoming a caddy at St. Charles Country Club, and eventually an auditor at Eaton's. After Eaton's, Dave began a long and successful career as Vice President of McKeag Realty. Jack McKeag was not only David's partner but also a very close friend. They took many trips together around the world.
Work was an important aspect of Dave's life; however, he did enjoy many memorable trips with his daughters and wife to the Caribbean, Europe, Great Britain, the U.S. and other parts of Canada. Many happy memories were spent at the southern residence (as Dave called it) on Siesta Key, Florida including family walks along the beach to get ice cream, Christmas gatherings and visits to surrounding amusement parks.
David will be remembered as a humourous, loving and caring person. Despite being busy with work and other obligations, he always had time for his family, for instance, tobogganing, skating on the duck pond and eating a good meal in restaurants.
After Dave's passing, one friend remarked how he was "a quiet tower of strength." This quote truly defines who David was.
A private family ceremony will take place this Spring.
Miss You Always
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why.
In life, we loved you dearly
In death, we love you still.
In our hearts, we hold a place
That only you can fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
A part of us went with you
The day God took you home

I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing as I thought he had a lot of years left when I last saw him for lunch last fall...I first met Dave when he went to work for Jack McKeag at McKeag Harris, in those days, and I was doing the audit. He was hired as the accountant but both Jack's saw the potential in Dave that he could be a real estate salesman and developer, which turned out to be a great assessment of his talent and groomed him to that end. He had a quick mind and was able to scribble illegible numbers on a napkin of a potential real estate opportunity. My very first trip to Florida with him and Jack to look at real estate in the Sarasota where both of them had acquired condos at Siesta Key and were influential in my wife and I buying in Englewood, where we now enjoy the winters. We often got together with the Glen's when they were down for walks along their gorgeous beach and for dinners at Bonefish and other great eating spots. Occasional summer trips to Gimli to visit them at their condo on Lake Winnipeg followed by a walk along the beach and dinner was always a delight. We will miss those times but have fond memories of them. I know he loved his family deeply and will be missed by all who knew him....our sincere condolences to Pat and her family....may God keep them in His loving care....Allan and Lois Webster - Posted by: Allan Webster (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2022

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Dave was truly a member of the McKeag family as well. I never knew when or where he would pop up, but he was always ready with a big mischievous smile and a genuine warm generosity. I will miss bumping into him on the Siesta Key Beach. My condolences to the Glen clan. - Posted by: Doug McKeag (Family Friend) on: Feb 19, 2022

Dear Pat, Ashley, Paige and Family, We are so very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. He was a wonderfully kind and generous man. My Mom, Sheila Murphy worked with him for many years at McKeag Realty and enjoyed driving a hard bargain with Dave when it came to renting Dave and Pat’s lovely condo on Siesta Key. Dave was always so gracious and generous with Mom and Dad and then with Bob and me and we have such lovely memories of our times there. Thank you Pat ❤️. Please accept our deepest condolences . You are in our hearts and thoughts. Sincerely, Kerry and Bob Green - Posted by: Kerry and Bob Green (Friend) on: Feb 19, 2022
