(nee HARRIS)
April 9, 1940 – February 21, 2022
Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Doreen passed away at Riverview Hospice at the age of 81 years.
Doreen is survived by George Buchholz, her loving husband of 54 years; her children, Kara Crawford (David) and Mark Buchholz (Sylvia); her four adored grandchildren, Barrett and Morgan Crawford and Ilsa and Bruno Buchholz; and sister Anne St. Laurent (Prince George, BC). She is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Edna Harris (Prince George, BC) and her brother Bob (Marta) Harris (Winnipeg MB).
Doreen's focus was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mom and grandma who's love, companionship, encouragement and humour will be greatly missed! She had a sharp intellect and enjoyed careers as an English teacher, guidance counsellor and then a market research manager. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with George and friends, playing duplicate bridge, attending theater and having great conversations and story telling over a cup of coffee. When not at home, a lot of family time was enjoyed together at the cottage in Kenora, Ontario and winters in Mesa, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada Association.

I worked with Doreen for a number of years on market research projects at Manitoba Lotteries. I thought of her often over the years as she was such a great teacher. I was a student in her Master Class on market research and learned so much that helped me in my career for the next 30 years. She focused on getting the right instrument for the right results. I had Mrs. Buchholz as my Grade 9 English teacher fifty-four years ago. She was a great teacher and taught us alot of life skills besides English.
