SHIRLEY ELAINE KING
(ARMSTRONG)
January 16, 1929 February 15, 2022
Shirley King, beloved wife of Don King, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022. Loved and missed by husband Don; sister Cathy; sons, Glen and Randy; daughter Cathy (Richard); grandkids, Ben (Laura), Lauren (Soleil), Chelsea (Vinay), Ryan, Nick (Anji), Hayley (Joe) and Brandon; great-grandkids, Raphaël and Maxence. Predeceased by parents, Grace and Addison; brother-in-law Bruce and daughters-in-law, Pierrette and Trish.
Shirl met Don at a YMCA dance and they have been inseparable ever since. Don and Shirl celebrated an amazing 70 years of marriage on November 15, 2021.
Shirley was a wonderful mom, devoted to her family, with lots of hugs to go around. An excellent baker making her famous "dream cake" and special sea foam frosting cakes. Shirley was the centre of all the action when hosting family gatherings and card nights with friends.
Shirley worked as secretary at Sherwood School and retired with 25 years of service. "Mrs. King" was loved by students and teachers alike, helping with reading, plays, bbq's and concerts.
In retirement, Don and Shirl travelled to England, Hawaii, the Maritimes and Vancouver Island. They enjoyed many a weekend in their trailer at Spruce Sands. Shirley volunteered at Good Neighbours Active Living Senior Centre (GNALC) and was a huge support of Don's many Board activities. For the past seven years, they have enjoyed living at Concordia Village.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration in late spring.
Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to GNALC, Heart and Stroke, Alzheimers, or a charity of choice.

I have lost my dearest friend for over 60 years. We met in Winnipeg as neighbours and the raised our children together for many years. We talked on the phone as we ironed those little girl dresses, we played many, many card games with Nertz being an all time favorite!!!! Ours husbands became good friends as well as our sons and daughters. My most sincere condolences to all the family, I shall miss our phone calls across the miles for all the years. Safe journey Shirl ❤️❤️❤️ - Posted by: Bess Ebbesen (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2022

Glen, Randy and Cathy - I can still hear your mom’s amazing laugh at our many family get togethers that we enjoyed growing up. I am also so grateful, Don, for the couple of visits with you and Shirley in Winnipeg in the last few years when Lori drove Bess and me from Saskatoon to see you both. Seeing you and Shirl and Mum huddled together laughing was amazing. Special times with special people. I will remember her happy, proud of her family and very much loved. - Posted by: Gayle Ebbesen (Family friend) on: Feb 26, 2022
