WINIFRED BELCHER
Born: September 26, 1927
Date of Passing: February 15, 2022
Winifred Belcher, aged 94 years, died peacefully February 15 at Saskatoon City Hospital.
Cherished mother to Brian (Liz), Ken (Pam) and Joyce (Glenn); grandmother to Derek (Ashley), Iain, Kurt, Bruce, Will and Owen; great-grandmother to Ruby; Aunt to Glen (Tricia), and many nieces and nephews on the Belcher side; and friend to many, she was our fierce champion and sincere support through life's ups and downs. Winifred was predeceased by Bill, her beloved husband of 67 years; her sister Mildred (Ed), and her Belcher in-laws.
Born in Wawanesa, MB, Winifred moved to Winnipeg for college and worked as a secretary for Northstar Oil. She married Bill (1949), they farmed in Bield for seven years, and started their family back in Winnipeg. After moving to five acres south of Winnipeg, Winifred began her longterm secretarial role at Mountbatten Elementary School.
Winifred deeply valued family and friends, and is remembered fondly for her welcoming ways, and the interest she took in others. She loved pets, nature, gardening, handicrafts, bowling, entertaining, camping, visiting family, and travels with Bill to places near and far. In 2009 they moved to a condo, and later to a suite, in Winnipeg. Since 2019 Winifred lived in Saskatoon, closer to family.
A memorial service to celebrate Winifred's life will be held in Winnipeg at a later date.
Donations can be made to Manitoba Naturalists Society or a charity of your choice.

My condolences to Brian and Liz, Ken and Pam, Joyce and Glenn, and their families. I remember the family visits through the years with Aunt Winifred's family and mine. One of my last visits with her was especially revealing as to her true nature. We sat on the balcony of her suite facing the Seine River where she could appreciate the sights and sounds of the bird in their natural habitat. - Posted by: Barbara Belcher (Niece) on: Mar 15, 2022

Aunt Win was a great part of my memories of my youth and adulthood. I will always treasure the memories of her visiting Roblin, attending family reunions, and the graciousness of her welcome at their home near Winnipeg. She will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Dave Belcher (nephew) on: Mar 07, 2022
