CHARLES DAVIDSON MCAULAY
It is with deep sadness, but in peace, we announce the passing of our dad and Papa, "Charlie" Charles Davidson McAulay, on Monday February 28, 2022, at the age of 87.
Charlie was born in Dalmuir, Scotland on April 3, 1934 and survived the Second World War as a child in the bomb shelters of Clydebank. In 1956 he married his true love, Jane Reid Brown (Jean) aka "wee Jeannie" and they emigrated to Winnipeg, but after several months of being homesick, returned to Scotland in 1957.
In 1974, Charlie and Jean returned to Winnipeg in search of a better life with their four children and Charlie was employed by the Coca Cola company for 25 years until he retired in April of 1999.
Charlie was the last survivor of nine siblings and sadly his wife Jean passed away suddenly in January 2021. He is survived by his four children, Chuck (Julie), Ian, Jane (Charlie) and Ann. Charlie adored his seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and they will all miss his kindness, singing and fun times with Papa!
Charlie loved to sing and he would write and sing real life stories sung to old Scottish tunes, as well as penning some funny limerick poems for birthdays and anniversaries. He had a selfless hospitality heart and would lend a hand to family, friends and neighbours without hesitation for any task big or small!
A private memorial service will be held by the family and a Celebration of Life will take place later. Cremation has taken place and Charlie's ashes will be taken to Scotland with Jeannie's this year so they can once again be together, as they were inseparable.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the treatment and cure for Dementia.
"El Condor Pasa" dad,
if we could, we surely would,
have one more hug and a wee sing along!
Farewell Dad, Papa, and Papa Charlie. He is peacefully in the arms of Jesus and now reunited with his "wee Jeannie."
