MARY MCWILLIAMS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Mary Jean McWilliams, 77, on February 14, 2022.
Mary is survived by her daughter Barbara Simeonidis (Boyd) and her son, David Simeonidis.
Mary was born in Winnipeg on January 19, 1945, to her dear parents, John and Jean McWilliams. Mary cared deeply for her parents, honoring them with her values and integrity. Mary spent her life in Winnipeg, raised her family and enjoyed a long, satisfying career as an elementary school teacher. She taught for three decades after receiving her degree from United College and the University of Manitoba. Mary excelled in her studies, always working hard while enjoying school. Upon retiring, she faithfully volunteered in classrooms where she made many friends and was greatly appreciated. Mary put her heart into teaching. But above all, she cherished being a mom. She took great pride in her family, always a cheerleader for her son and daughter. Those who knew Mary described her as a kind, caring, positive person who put others first. She took a genuine interest in people, listened, and had an empathetic heart. She inspired goodness, led by example, and demonstrated a quiet confidence in herself and her beliefs. Mary had a strong faith. She was dedicated to studying the Bible and knew God had a plan for her. On her journey in life, Mary sought comfort in her relationship with God, through which she developed strength, purpose, and resilience. She enjoyed many years as a member at The Meeting Place, where she was always excited to sing, worship, and connect. Mary loved music, reading, writing, sports, the lake, quiet family time and a good laugh. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Rest in peace Mom. We love you very much. Thank you for touching our lives.

A tribute service to Mary will be held at The Meeting Place, 139 Smith Street, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
