NONA ANN ONG
(nee ROUSH, MARTIN)

Nona Ann Ong (nee Roush, Martin) died on March 1, 2022, at the age of 81.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Joel (Nancy), Laura (Troy), Kathy (Charles), Mark (Bhuvan), Kristen (Andre), Melissa; her grandchildren, Hayley, Ian, Courtney, Abby, Chelsea, Susan, Ryan, Sona, Esa; her sister Marcia (Chester); brother Paul, and niece and nephews.
Nona was a kind, loving person full of grace. She had a real depth of character and wisdom. She found joy in helping others, doing without herself so others could flourish, often without acknowledgment.
Nona grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, excelled in school, graduated early and went to Albion College, and later, the University of Manitoba in their post-Bachelorette program earning her master's degree in education. While at Albion College she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and sang and travelled with their choir. She was an editor and teacher. She touched many lives through her years teaching children at Friends Together parent co-op. Members often speak of her wisdom and compassion.
She enjoyed playing cards at the lake, playing bridge and working through her crosswords when she wasn't out for long walks or workouts. Nona was a world traveller and a long-standing member of Fort Garry United Church. She played the cello, the piano and enjoyed singing. She had a deep love of reading and freely shared her collection with others.
Her family would like to thank Dr. M. Evans and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care.
At Nona's request, there will be no formal service.
