YVONNE CHARTRAND
Peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 2, 2022, Yvonne Chartrand left us to begin her journey home. Yvonne was 79 years old and a resident of Dauphin Personal Care Home in Dauphin, Manitoba at the time of her passing. Yvonne was surrounded by loved one's at the time of her passing at Dauphin Hospital.
Yvonne was born on June 27, 1942 in Duck Bay, Manitoba. Her parents were Joseph Ambrose Genaille and Martha Chartrand. Joseph Ambrose passed while Yvonne was quite young. She had six siblings; Lena, Harvey, Bill, Elsie, Molly, and Johnny. Yvonne spent her early adult life living and working in Winnipeg and managing to raise her younger siblings after the passing of their mother Martha. Yvonne went to school in Duck Bay as a child, and returned to complete her education as an adult. She demonstrated incredible will and determination as she attained her Bachelor of Education degree through Brandon University. During this time she met her husband George Chartrand and she raised her own children as well as her step-children. Yvonne was a long-time teacher who loved and touched many lives through her years of teaching in Duck Bay, Pine Creek, and Shamattawa.
Yvonne is survived by her children; Ronald, Kenneth (Kathy), Donna (Richard), Trevor (Effie), Daniel (Darlene), and Loretta (Rivlin). She is survived by her beloved grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister Molly and numerous nieces and nephews.
Yvonne is predeceased by her husband George, her granddaughter Kendra, siblings Lena, Harvey, Bill, and Elsie. She is also predeceased by her parents Joseph Ambrose and Martha as well as her paternal grandparents Joseph Genaille and Francoise Boucher, and her maternal grandparents Gaspard Chartrand and Charlotte Piponikapo.
Traditional Wake will be offered on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 7:00 pm from the Duck Bay Community Center in Duck Bay, MB.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Yvonne on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 11:00 am from the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Nepolian Suvakin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Duck Bay Cemetery. Active pallbearers are as follows; Scott McKay, Andre Saucier, Alain Saucier, Dominic Captain, Ronald Chartrand Jr., Travis Roulette, Brendan Flett, and Nathaniel Flett. Honorary pallbearers are the remaining grandsons, nephews, and all who loved Yvonne.
