OMELIAN (EMIL) SENKIW
May 1, 1930 – February 21, 2022
It is with very sad hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Emil Senkiw, aged 91. He has left this earth to join his wife Mary.
Dad touched our lives in many different ways including his unique sense of humour – which will be forever talked about amongst his loved ones.
Dad grew up in Sarto, Manitoba. He moved to Midland, Ontario where he met Mary at Waggs Laundry and Dry Cleaners. They married April 14, 1952, and in 1955, moved back to Steinbach where they owned and operated Steinbach Dry Cleaners.
Grandma and Grandpa's home was the favorite place for their four grandchildren. Many memories are shared with friends and family of the times spent at the farm on the tractor, snowmobile, motorbike, on the 'old highway', around the bonfire and around the dinner table.
Dad made an impact on many people. He proudly displayed trophies from bowling and curling. He loved to work in the bush, cutting down trees to stoke the furnace. He loved playing crib, solitaire, and word finds.
Dad volunteered for many years with the RCMP department in Steinbach. He was very devoted to this work and made many wonderful friends.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Anna; his wife Mary; brother John; and sisters Alice, Stephie, Helen, and Joan.
Left to share his memory are his daughters, Angela (Dave), and Kimberley; and his grandchildren, Scott (Laura), Breanne (JS), Shealey (Taylen), and Shane.
A Celebration of Life for Emil and Mary will be held on April 23, 2022.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting him I have known his daughter Kim for many years. Based on the kind and amazing person Kim is, I can only believe that her great qualities were due to her parents providing a wonderful life for her. My condolences to the family and friends - Posted by: Helen Faucher (Friend of Kim’s) on: Mar 16, 2022

I also had the privilege of working alongside Emil at the Steinbach RCMP Detachment as a member. First in 1996 to 2000 and then again in 2006 until his "retirement ". I will always remember our talks, his smile, willingness to help and also his generosity. He was very proud of his family and spoke highly of all of them. Several of us had the privilege of spending time with Emil in the fall and we will cherish that moment forever. Say hi to my Dad. Time to rest now with Mary.
