FREDERICK JOHN SMITH
November 12, 1923 - February 26, 2022
With much sadness, we announce the passing of Frederick "Fred" Smith on February 26, 2022, at the age of 98, in Penticton, BC.
Fred will be greatly missed by his sons, Garth (Jo-Anne) of Penticton, BC and Wayne of Winnipeg, MB. Fred leaves his family to mourn his passing, his brother Bill of Penticton, BC; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his friends. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Marg; daughter Dianne (Leon); son Terry (Elva); daughter-in-law Diane (Wayne) and great-grandson Matthew.
Fred was employed for 37 years at Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg, MB as a sheet metal worker, specializing in the assembly of flaps and wings of the aircraft. Upon retirement, Dad enjoyed his days at the cottage with Mom and their dog, Tara.
In 2005, came the big move from Winnipeg to West Kelowna, BC to enjoy family, beautiful weather and gardening. Later he moved to Penticton, BC, where he enjoyed the company of his brother Bill and many friends. Dad loved his weekly Saturday card game of crib at the Elks and chit-chatting with friends.
We will miss Dad's hugs and kisses and always remember him for his kindness and smile.
Fred's wish of cremation has taken place with no service. A special thank-you goes to Haven Hill, especially the staff on Upper Bartlett, for Dad's care.
