HELEN (LOUISE) MAC LEOD
(nee OVERALL)

Born: May 28, 1928
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Died Peacefully: February 25, 2022
Toronto, Ontario.

She is predeceased by her husband Ian Donald Mac Leod (died January 24, 1997); parents, Caroline Nellie and William Dennis Overall and her siblings, Peggy, Mae (McLeod) and Harold Overall.
Louise and Ian are survived by their four children, Judy, Donald, John and Alastair and by their eight grandchildren, Kelsey, Anders, Dexter, Heather, Mary, Justin, Petra and Sean.
Louise savoured happy memories of a loving childhood in Woodhaven, Winnipeg and enjoyed a rewarding nursing career before dedicating herself to raising a family.
Louise and Ian enjoyed family car trips, camping, canoeing, sailing with friends and entertaining. Louise had a sharp and curious intellect, which she satiated through voracious reading, university courses, volunteer work with Amnesty International and the Canadian Opera Company, literacy tutoring, opera tours in Europe and trips to St. Petersburg, Russia, Prague and France. Louise enjoyed dining out and hosting visits from family and friends. Louise had a keen eye for the arts and enjoyed painting later in life.
Louise revelled in being an attentive and loving grandmother for 40 years, sharing her interest in gardening, cooking, knitting and sewing, as well as her sense of humour, her intellect and her exuberance for life.
In her later years, Louise resided at New Horizons Tower Toronto, where she was cared for with compassion, kindness and respect and received the support she needed to live in dignity and comfort. Our family is very grateful for the exemplary care she received.
In lieu of flowers and a funeral service, donations can be made in Louise's name to Amnesty International or an adult literacy program.
