JAMES (JIM) ANDERSON
February 21, 1945 - March 16, 2022


It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Left with wonderful memories are his loving wife Dorothy of 54 years, his three children, Tracey (Mark), Tara and Jeff; eight grandchildren, two great-grand-children, mother-in-law Tillie, sister Donna (Mac), brother-in-law Ken (Irene), sister-in-law Daria, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his mother Ruth, brother Don, father-in-law Nick, niece Shelley, and son-in-law Travis.
Jim was born in Brandon and started school in a one room schoolhouse in St. Germain, MB. After four years the family moved to Killarney, MB where he continued his education until grade 10. Jim then moved to Thief River Falls, MN where he attended Lincoln High School. Jim graduated with honors and lettered in Hockey, Baseball and Football.
Jim's career started in the electrical industry with Manitoba Hydro for a period of 14 years, and from there worked for Wesco, McGraw Edison and Federal Pioneer. His work ethic, dedication and customer loyalty earned him many individual Sales Awards. With all the numerous contacts and relationships built Jim decided to make a major career move and open his own business MidPlains Utilities Sales in 1992. After nine and a one-half years he sold his business to Grafton West, when he finally decided to retire in 2005.
Jim's contributions weren't just limited to the electrical industry. He dedicated his free time to numerous athletic organizations within the community which included being president for three Minor Hockey Associations.
Jim's love for sports included being a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder for over 50 years, a season ticket holder with the Winnipeg Jets, and coaching all three of his kids in Softball and Hockey. Due to his dedication and countless hours, he received the Bill Sadonick Softball Manitoba Coach of the year Award (1988), and the Sam Southern Memorial award for his outstanding contribution to Winnipeg Minor Hockey (1991 to 1992).
Jim touched several lives and was loved by many. He was generous, loving, compassionate and devoted. Qualities that earned him respect, love and admiration from those whose lives he touched.
There was no one more devoted to family than Jim. Spending time with his loved ones gave him the warmth in his heart and put the smile on his face.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 23, 2022 at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, also at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery.

  • My condolences to the family. I worked with Jim in Purchasing at Manitoba Hydro. I tried to help him transition to an office position from working in the field. Jim never wanted to sit behind a desk. We spoke often when he started his own business and I always found Jim to be honest and sincere. I spoke at his retirement from the business world.
