CREUSA MARIA DA MATA
(CLEO, CLEUSA)

December 20, 1946 - March 9, 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Creusa after a long and courageous battle to stay healthy despite having a heart damaged due to a childhood illness. Creusa lived every day to the fullest. She pushed all limits to make those close to her as happy as possible.
Creusa leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Manuel, her son Victor, her daughter Elizabeth and her four beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Lara, Ninah and Eliana.
Creusa was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and left behind a large, loving family to immigrate to Canada in 1969. She was a loving, compassionate and kind person who very soon created a community of friends in Canada that became like family.
She was everyone's favourite Tia, best friend and strongest supporter. Creusa was the rock and anchor for her family. There are no words to describe the profound loss this is to her loved ones but we take comfort in knowing that she lived her life to the fullest and is at peace with God.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their continued support over the many years, including the medical support team in Winnipeg and Victoria.
A Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Saturday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. in Winnipeg, MB. You can watch a livestream on their Facebook page at: Immaculateconceptionparish-winnipeg
In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations be made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca)

  • I am saddened at the passing of my friend / coworker Cleo. We have shared a beautiful friendship ever since I met her at St. Boniface Hospital. My condolences go out to her loving husband Manuel, her children Victor and Elizabeth and their families. I don't have the words to ease your pain but you are all thought of with fondness. My prayers are for healing from the grief of losing this matriarch. RIP, Cleo. - Posted by: Beatrice Narine (Coworkers ) on: Mar 19, 2022
