CONNOR MICHAEL DUFF
It is with our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our first child, Connor Michael (Mandy) Duff on February 22, 2022.
Connor was born on June 6, 1995. Connor amazed us with his voracious appetite for reading which ultimately took him on a path to become a writer. Connor had so much promise which is all we are left with.
Connor attended Samuel Burland School from K-8. He went on to graduate with honours from Glenlawn Collegiate. He attended the University of Manitoba (U of M) where he graduated with a Theatre Major. Connor was 16 months into an 18 month program at the Toronto Film School when he was taken from us.
Connor's dream of becoming a Hollywood movie director will not be realized, but an endowment fund is being set up at the U of M to help somebody else realize their dream. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to this fund.
Connor leaves to mourn his parents, Shannon and Myles, brothers, Cameron (Molly), Ryan and Brendan, sister Anna, and nephew Bennett. Coming from an Irish-Ukrainian family, Connor leaves many cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends who have become our family.
May you rest in peace Connor,
and help the stars shine brighter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Manitoba, Connor Duff Memorial Bursary, 200-137 Innovation Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 6B6.
A service will be held on March 25 at 1:00 p.m. at E. J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street in Winnipeg. The service will be officiated by Colleen Olafson, Celebrant for Life's Moments.

I was shocked to learn of the passing of Connor, Mandy. I remember Connor Mandy from South Park Day Program, I can picture him in my mind sitting at the little table making a craft and looking over his shoulder with a big grin when ever someones parent showed up. Or you guys trying to quickly get him into his snow gear to go to hockey? I believe. From reading of him as an adult It sounds like he had worked very hard to achieve his dreams, I can't express how sorry I am for your loss. My dear family and friends of the Duff family, please accept my condolences. I hope you can allow yourselves to reach out to you when you need to and allow others to help you, and share each others feelings of grief, but most importantly allow others to lift up your spirits. I have know Connor (Mandy) Duff through childhood and on. I remember being able to relate to some of his difficulties. The last time I saw him, I invited him (or her at the time) over and I remember we hugged and hung out and I could tell he shared a natural connection. I am by nature an understanding person. Connor has certainly had many incredible life experiences, with his deep interest in film and acting. He is very interesting, and a lovable person. He will live on. - Posted by: Bronwyn Shennan (Family friend) on: Mar 25, 2022

Mandy was one the most talented people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. She had an unbelievably unique and important perspective and the writing chops to voice that point of view. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humour enriched my life and I will be forever thankful for having met her. Getting to know and work with her was truly a blessing. I would like to offer my deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Megan St-Pierre (Friend and Classmate) on: Mar 23, 2022

For a few months, years ago, I met every week with Connor at a writing group at the University of Manitoba’s Creative Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture. At the end of the writing group term, when the Writer-in-Residence had to return home, a few of us (including Connor) continued to meet, to share what we had written. The stories Connor shared seemed unusual to me: they were action-packed and mysterious and sometimes violent, but always very happy. I was always so captivated by the content and his story-telling charisma, that when it became my turn to react, I was speechless. My role in the group was to provide feedback, but Connor would have me listening so obsequiously, that my mind would be still mulling over what Connor had shared. After reading about his theatre background, I now realize that he was not only telling a story, but also describing the story as if it were a film. After writing group, Connor would always walk back to my building with me, engaging me with conversation about all kinds of things, before he made his way to where ever he was headed on that particular day. If I hadn’t been almost three decades older than him, I might have thought he was sweet on me. He was unique. Polite, sweet, perhaps a tad shy, but unique. It is too sad that Connor is gone, too soon. I hope the good memories that shared by those you love soon begin to eclipse the pain of grief. - Posted by: Laurel (acquaintance) on: Mar 22, 2022

My deepest sympathies to Myles, Shannon and all of the family. I recall Connor (Mandy) in class as a creative and intelligent person. He was humorous and communicative in class to the point of being chatty at times. Always an interesting enjoyable conversation with a point of view though. He could sit and read or doodle in class, and by doodle I mean writing or cartooning in a creative fashion, and still figure things out on his own time enough to be successful in a difficult subject area, grade 12 pre-calculus math. (Always a frustrating situation for a teacher. ;<] ) A terrible loss. My heart goes out to you. - Posted by: Ken Thoroski (Friend and teacher) on: Mar 19, 2022
