GAIL ELLEN EDGINTON

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Gail Ellen Edginton (nee Snowdon), our mother and Nana, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Gail was born on January 15, 1942, to George and Iris Snowdon and raised in East Kildonan.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her mother Iris, her father George and special Aunt Eileen.
Gail and Ralph raised three boys who are forever grateful for the close-knit family ties they instilled in them and will cherish many fond memories, Paul (Dianne), Glen (Kim), and Jason (Danielle). Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Shane, Carley, Jaden, Abby, Elise and Connor and her great-grandson Chase. She will be sadly missed by her sister Leslie (Randi and Derek) and brother Jeff (Tracy, Amanda and Nick) and her lifelong friends the "Golden Girls", Sheena, Adrienne and Lolli.
Family and friends meant everything to Gail, she spent many hours talking on the phone each day to all of them. If you hadn't heard from Gail once a day, something was wrong. She had a heart of gold and gave her family the most important gift of all, her time. She quickly became a friend to everyone that met her and cherished everyone that came into her life.
Her favourite pastime was cheering on her grandkids while watching racing, hockey, ringette or volleyball. Gail had a special eye for decorating and could style a room on a budget. She loved to travel with Ralph in their R.V. and enjoyed many holidays with her family. Her love for dogs was infectious and she enjoyed years of companionship with her "fur" babies. She loved to cook and craft but a good visit from anyone was the highlight of her day.
As per Gail's request a private Celebration of Life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the home care staff that helped Gail over the past several months.
We will love you forever and miss hearing those special voice mails - "Hey, it's Nana, give me a call!"

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Just thinking of my sister more and more. I am often moved to tears because we spoke for an hour or more every day. I know I complained about her and we fought, but I never made a decision without her. And every time I try to buy anything I find it close to impossible without her. I end up wearing her hand me downs or something she picked out on our many outings. I never realized how lost I would be without her. - Posted by: Leslie Snowdon (Sister) on: Nov 06, 2023

  • I first met Gail through her mother and sister many years ago. She was, to this young girl, the epitome of style and natural grace. When Gail and Ralph moved back to EK I had the good fortune to babysit their boys on their “date nights”. Always good memories. Soar with the angels, Gail. - Posted by: Patricia Simcoe-Rosenbaum (Family babysitter) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • My sincere condolences to the Edginton family. My heart goes out to each of you. I was fortunate to see Gail quite often shopping at Sobeys( pre-COVID) and hope to chat with her for a few minutes. Gail’s giggles and laughter was contagious. Remember the good times shared with her. She sure will be missed. Rest In Peace Gail. - Posted by: Janet Pownall (Cousin) on: Mar 23, 2022

  • Our deepest condolences to members of Gail's family. Hockey introduced us to the Edginton Family when Jason and Michael were teammates. Gail and Ralph were always fun to be with. Many lasting memories were forged during those enjoyable times. We are certain that, although you have suffered a tremendous loss, her memories that you hold dear in your hearts, will console and sustain you through these difficult times. Peace be with you! Rest in peace, Gail. - Posted by: Len and Vicki Lazaruk (Hockey Friends) on: Mar 19, 2022

  • Gail was an East St. Paul icon. When ever I entered a room I would look for her to sit beside because of the warm welcome she gave. Gail was so easy to talk to. I will always be grateful to Gail for giving me one of my many jobs to help me through university. You and your wonderful girlfriends are an inspiration to following generations of what true friendship is all about. You ladies would laugh so hard and tell the best stories! Every once in a while we should ask ourselves WWGD? What would Gail do? She would welcome everyone, stay up late, have another drink, tell good stories, be interesting and fun, show up and be present! My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Liz Loewen (Friend) on: Mar 19, 2022
