Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences to Norman and Amanda and family on the passing of your father and grandfather. Such a beautiful tribute. Such wonderful memories we are sure you will cherish. - Posted by: Betty stoesz and ART (FRIENDS) on: Mar 28, 2022

  • Lawrence was related to my mother, and for many years he and LaVerna attended Home Street Mennonite Church where my parents Jake & Mary (Klippenstein) Reimer attended. I remember Lawrence for his extensive genealogical research into Klippensteins which included trips to Russia/Ukraine. He inspired me and my husband Daniel to do a Mennonite Historical Tour in Russia/Ukraine in 2013. Lawrence was involved in bringing Klippensteins together at reunions, producing the Klippings newsletter, and work with Mennonite historical archives. He leaves a great legacy as a kind and knowledgeable man, with a beautiful wife and family, - Posted by: Bernice Reimer McDonald (Relative) on: Mar 25, 2022

  • I had the honor of getting to know Mr. Klippenstein through his son Nathan. I spent many evenings at the Klippenstein house enjoying dinner and singing hymns around the piano. I had the pleasure of being invited on a trip with Mr. Klippenstein and Nathan to Grand Forks in the late 70s. As a teenager I was intigued at Mr. Klippenstein's formal, and very proper way of speaking. Inspite of this formal manner of speech, I never questioned his sincerity and concern for others. Since knowing the Klippensteins for the last 44 years, I had a tradition of calling their house every Christmas eve and wish everyone well. Lately, with Mr. Klippenstein living alone, we would have a little longer conversation those times which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, this past year I regretably did not call. When Nathan called to inform me of his dad's passing, my heart sank. Then, I realized and smiled when I thought to myself....We will chat again in Heaven! - Posted by: Rennie Schulz (Family friend) on: Mar 25, 2022

  • We lived next door to Larry and LaVerna on Berkley Street until they moved to Steinbach. I have the absolute fondest and wonderful memories of both of them. They were surrogate Grandparents to my kids and we adored them. Their daily walks to McDonald's for coffee never ceased to astound me! It was a mighty long walk! Rest in peace and rejoice in God's heavenly Kingdom Larry. - Posted by: Monica Perron (former next door neighbor) on: Mar 25, 2022

  • I will always be indebted to Lawrence Klippenstein for his support and encouragement. I first met him in 1966 when I studied at CMBC, where he was then teaching. Later, as archivist, he helped me to gain access to materials for my dissertation. In later years our contact was less frequent, but he was always supportive, generous, wise and understanding. Thank you, Lawrence! Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Bill Janzen (Friend) on: Mar 24, 2022
